If I understand the manual correctly (it doesn't say this specifically), you can run the rear PTO when you're not in the seat, but the catch is you must engage the PTO AFTER you're already off the seat. You can't engage it with everything in neutral (power reverser, tranny, etc) and THEN get off the seat. Correct? Sort of a bummer because sometimes I need to jump off to move a fallen branch on the ground when mowing. If I understand it correctly, I can run the rear PTO while I'm not seated, but I have to engage it only after I get off the seat. I assume they want to be sure you know the PTO is engaged by forcing you to get off and then engage it. But like I said, it would be nice to be able to be able to keep it on after I've already been using it and then get off. I know I could short the switch under the seat to trick it, but I think in the long run, that's playing with fire and asking for trouble.
