I spoke to a couple of dealers today, and among the topics was the adjustability of the CUT wheels.
It appears that the type of tire/wheel set up has a large impact on the adjustability of the width of the machines. The Mahindra dealer I spoke to said the 4110 can be set out an extra 8 inches on each side in the rear with R1/Ag tires. The front end has four different adjustments on it to add width. Industrial and turf tires won't adjust on that model.
I spoke to a McCormick dealer who said that the R1s were also adjustable on the GX models.
Checked out some prices as well. All the places I checked have been in business for a number of years, so I should be safe in the dealer being there in the future. Right now it appears the Mahindra 4110 and McCormick GX40, GX45 & GX50 are offering the best buys, with the Kubota and New Holland being the worst. Farmtrac 545 (4wd version) and John Deere 990 and the 03 series (2wd) fall in between.
I don't consider value and price to be necessarily synonymous, but a balance between price and features. I've still got some investigating to do before making a final decision, but things look very promising.
A couple of dealers did mention some used machines they had. Two of them were TC45Ds, with hydrostatic trannies and low hours (122 on one and less than 200 on the other). One of these also had a TN65 that he priced me with a loader for $20K, it has around 125 hours on it.
The TN65 is very tempting. I'm going to take a look at it, but it may physicallybe too large for some of the tasks I have in mind.
