I was thinking the same as you just posted. You even see it on these pages... people living in more remote areas think that they should be able to access the same high speed internet which people can get in urban areas.

Maine has a reputation for not liking "outsiders" yet people move in and we constantly hear "If this was New Jersey we would be doing it this way..."
If it was so great there, why did you move?

I worked very briefly with a woman from the coastal town of Machias ME who was a transplant, and always complaining about the way that she was treated as an outsider. Yet an oft-heard line was "We lke to say that the natives have gone Feral"... With an attitude like that it's no surprise that she didn't fit in.

I have spent a little time in Maine. I don't think people move to Maine thinking they are going to have the same "conviences" of more developed states...actually think its quite the opposite. People who move there..by and large are buying vacation homes and want to get away from people and congestion. Late June, July and August are usually nice up there.. The other months are winter.
I have met many locals in Maine and most have been humble hard working people.

Until the cityfolk invade and demand city level services.

I was cityfolk, but when I moved, I adapted. I knew some things would never be here. We now have a few things I never really expected, but have managed to keep costs low. Grocery stores, lumber stores, etc. are still 20+ miles away though.

There is simply no way to qualify that broad statement. Many people who move out of contested areas..dont want all the city things in their new area...which is why they moved in the first place..If your statement were true across the board, Than you yourself are one of those who want everything..but you just didn't look in the mirror.

When we moved from outside of Charlotte to SW Virginia there was a definite culture shock, this very rural county has nothing resembling "city life" . I will say the "native" people here are top notch. Very friendly, willing to help, and incredibly polite. They are not necessarily educated, but very smart in "getting it done". We couldn't be happier with our move, the area, or the people. And... my wife loves me in bib overall's.

I have heard shock from some moving from SF Bay Area to Texas, Idaho and Colorado...

Mostly the husband's love it but not so much the spouse...

A huge problem is open carry and how in 2015 is this allowed... no one needs a gun shopping!

Another is YardArt complaints... Someone's antique tractor in the front yard is another's eyesore.

I think you can chalk that up to them not doing their due diligence

I may have seen someone open carry 1 time. But here in Texas, most of the concealed carry permits are for people you wouldn't mind packing some heat.

"no one needs a gun shopping".
I respectfully disagree!
Agree with you that open carry is not necessary.
Concealed carry when.... "shopping"?
Why not???
