I have a few trailers that sit outside with the tires weathering-out....before they wear-out from use. I have used some plywood cut-outs to protect the tires, and I try to park in normally shady areas...but was looking for other alternatives. Doing a web search for tire covers, I saw a product called "Sun Block for Tires" which is a brush-on tire coating (I think - not a very good description is given).

If this product works, I can see this being a good alternative for me. Can anyone vouch for the effectiveness of this product? I tried to find some product reviews....but, found nothing. I thought a tire coating may prove to be more valuable than a cover (?).

Or....any other good solutions to this problem??

Its a big problem. I have never had or seen a trailer that wore out its tires before they sidewalls were in bad shape. I personally keep all my stuff in a barn but that is not a option for all. If it really works it will be money well spent.

I've never heard of such a product, but if the price is reasonable it might be worth trying?

Why not use a proven well known product?
303 has been around for years and is recommended extensively directly by many plastic canoe and kayak manufacturers. Not sure if any tire manufacturers recommend it, but I've had great success with it on many plastic/rubber items.

303 Products, Inc.: 303 Aerospace Protectant Protects Rubber Tires - Tire Tech Facts

After a bit more reading on the web.....I see the 303 product recommended quite often. Still.....more say to cover the tires too.

I know this sounds unbelievable, but I recall reading in Farm Show about someone who used regular human sunblock on their camper tires.

speaking mostly of the boat trailers? Virtually every person i know that runs a landscape crew and tows a dual axle trailer burns through 4 tires in a about 2 years. I was noteing to a friend who's farm ive been working on that her dual axle horse trailer tires were about half gone and she bough them last year.
