I am assuming bumper pull since you didn't specify. 2 3/8 probably means 2 5/8" so could be either gooseneck or bumper pull. Is it a deckover, or are fenders outside the deck? As mentioned, pictures are definitely worth posting to give us a better idea of just what you are considering purchasing. Condition of the brakes, the lights with wiring and wood deck are all very important when it comes to determining value. You said "tires look good with plenty of tread" but i would look further into that. What is the weight rating, are they enough for max capacity and then some or are they just enough to keep rims off the ground? Age of tires is HUGE, and is easily determined by the DOT stamped number on each tire. 6 years is the established lifespan of a tire. An extra heavy duty tire will last much past that without issues, but one used at its capacity will die sooner. All these things are critical to assessing the value of a trailer.
A wood deck 6 to 8 years old might look fine, but as i am learning, it is expensive to redo the wood on one, and if was stored outside, expect issues from that.
Who built the trailer also has value due to their reputation. A name brand trailer compared to one that i built will have different values. Look at the craftmanship in the build, make sure you know what you are buying!
