bcs 852
A few years ago my father-in-law retired and move to the country, buying a BCS 852 with brush mower attachment, and a bio 100 chipper/shredder.

He passed away a year later, and I've been holding onto these items for a couple of years now. I have a 60x100 ft lot in the city; I can't even get the beast through the gate into my back yard. I've used the chipper/shredder a couple of times, but that doesn't justify the space it takes in my garage. I've been starting the tractor occasionally, and drained the gas and carb for the winter.

I'd like to sell this equipment, but I'd like to find out how much it's likely to be worth.

If there is a website where I could list these, that would be helpful as well. The tractor has the Honda engine.

thanks,

Sean

I would suggest Craigslist. I bought my 720 there a few years ago. It was post 1995 (There is a difference). 8hp with very little use, rototiller and snowblower for $1100. You can use an app called searchtempest dot com to check and see if anyother BCS are on local craigslist.

sorry to hear about your father-in-law. should be a tag on the machine from where he bought it. check with a local dealer for estimate on value and check the internet on the new price for the atachments. Where are u located? I am interested in the bio100 chipper. place it on craiglist in the spring for the most value out of it pending where you are located(snow season).

This my be a stretch, but contact Joel at Earthtools. His website is earthtoolsbcs.com

I heard he will post bcs items for sale for $20. BCS owners are a small crew, and check out his site frequently.

I have used craigslist in the past with mixed reviews.

Good luck selling the machine, its a beaut.

I'd take pictures and put it on Craigslist in early February. Be sure to put it in all the Craigslist locations within 150 miles of your location. Your buyer will likely be someone within 300 miles who is actively searching Craigslist in the region for BCS.

Hi Sean,

Another option is to buy some property in the country and use the equipment :)

I need some more info from you regarding the attachments. First, which mower? Sickle mower has a wide bar with teeth that slide back and forth. A rough-cut mower has a square deck. A flail mower looks sort of like a drum on it's side mounted crosswise on the tractor. Second, how wide?

Your best bet is to be willing to sell the machine as two lots. I'd list the chipper immediately on craigslist and sell it first. Now is actually a little late in the year, but you might find a late buyer. Your F-I-L would have paid around $1400 for the chipper new. If it's like-new, I think you'll be in the $850-$1100 range. It seems the BIO-100 has fallen slightly out of favor due to the BIO-80. The BIO-100 is more of a chipper for dry, woody materials and the BIO-80 is more of a shredder for garden waste. Most people who own a BCS have more need for a shredder vs. a chipper.

Then I'd list the 852 with mower in the spring. I can't tell you what he paid for the mower until you tell me what he had, but he would have paid around $3700 for the tractor.
