Value of weathered oak boards

dgee, distance, that's ye problem. Distance from me, that is. I have a project Taylor made for about the kind of wood ye have. Oh well, I hate to see good wood burned, but, if ye have a fireplace, at least it'd give ye some warmth.

I think it depends greatly on your location. I now in some places using reclaimed barn wood is really popular. My brother lives up in Bozeman and there are companies who do nothing but buy and tear down old barns all over the country so they can be reused on high end homes. I even saw a family at lake Texoma down in Texas build out the interior of their boat dock with old barn wood.

OTOH where I live there are all kinds of 100 year old barns that just get torn down or abandoned since there is not a big demand from wealthy people in the area who want to use the wood.

How about this. Mushrooms are found growing in the timber, and sack fulls of them are growing near dead oak tree stumps and fallen, buried limbs. I don't know if it will work, but try burying a few boards and see if any mushrooms grow there next spring.

Some people will pay big money for a pound of mushrooms.

I think the weathered barn board fad has "faded". Big demand a few years ago for basement paneling...not so much now. But I'd check with any picture frame folks in your area...I've used a lot of the stuff when the picture will make it work.
