Value Proposition: What Makes Your Brand Of Tractor Better Than The Others?

For me it's Deere because:

1. The history of the brand emotionally connects me with the amazing history of the US.
2. I can buy and get service from a so-called "real" dealer instead of a lawnmower shop.
3. I do most of my own troubleshooting and it's super easy to find tons of detailed information online.
4. I do most of my own maintenance and it's super easy to find parts everywhere and get them NOW.
5. I've had great experiences with their products and support.
6. Resale value can't be beat.
7. If you have a dealer near you that you don't like, there's another one down the road. They're everywhere.
8. I like supporting American companies even if some of the parts are made elsewhere.

My thoughts also! I know there ore other good brands too, but the JD does the job for me, and the nearby dealer gives me good support. I would worry having a tractor, and it being a several hour drive to get a part for it!

Brand longevity is a big one for me. Bought my first kubota back in 05. Local options were really only Deere, NH, and kubota.

The deere and NH dealers back then really didnt cater to someone wanting such a small tractor. ANd some of the modern names like Kioti, LS, Branson and mahindra were pretty much unheard of in this area.

Then the tractors that have all came and went in the last few decades. Like Montana, or bobcat offered tractors, then didnt, now they are again. Doesnt give a customer a real warm and fuzzy feeling.

I stuck with kubota for my next purchase and wasnt even really tractor shopping. I had been kicking around the idea of getting a bigger tractor with HST as my mowing/bushhogging business was growing and mowing ~400-500 acres a year with a L3400 and 6' mower wasnt a long term solution. I wanted something big enough to pull an 8' mower but still small enough to be nimble and easily to trailer and had HST. A phone call to my dealer and they just taken a MX5100 on trade. IT checked all the boxes. R1 tires, 4wd, HST, loader, only 350hrs, pre-emissions, and under $20k.

No doubt every other MFG makes a 50-60HP HST that would serve me equally as well. But this was available at the time I needed it. And I do like the fact that a kubota is a kubota. Its not rebadged, or has an engine from a different MFG, or someone else designing and making the loaders, etc.

I will say my next tractor is likely gonna be which ever MFG decides to put HST in the slightly larger utility size tractors. Something ~1000pounds heavier and 24" fronts. Which ever brand that may be, as I am not tied to one brand because they all make fine equipment and there are more important aspects of a tractor purchase than paint color

the best dealership was a family owned one in Spokane.
I may be in the market for a new tractor sometime in the future. My choices will be a dealer in Wenatchee or Spokane area. Is there more than one Kubota dealer in Spokane?

There is Jordan Sales in Post Falls, ID. They are one of the largest TYM dealers in the west. And also has Kioti.

The fact that I have a Kubota dealership 3 miles from home, run by a "good ol' boy" who has known me all my life, and asks me about my family every time I stop by.

I think it was a number of small things that made us end up choosing between Deere and Kubota. We did look at many others.

JD & Kubota both had a professional shop with Service and Parts people who took the time to discuss things with me. The JD guys not only knew their parts, I knew from the past that they often know which parts had been upgraded and why.

Several of the other brands were basically chain saw and lawnmower repair shops. That didn't bother me as much as their primitive repair shops and no parts to speak of. I'm an old mechanic and care nothing about the building or show room, but lots about the way the repair shop is set up.

Frankly we could have gone with either JD or Kubota & were hoping it would turn out to be JD. I like the history of JD. and like supporting our own USA industry. Plus we do prefer that color.

But JD had just discontinued their medium size TLB machines at the time and Kubota made the decision to expand theirs. So the new machine is a Kubota, although that was "in spite of" rather than "because of" the color.

It is one amazing machine. Definitely the right choice.

One more small difference just occurs to me - the Kubota dealer had a sand pile and encouraged me to take the tractor over and play with it - which I did on several afternons.

The JD dealer didn't want to take a chance of scuffing his tractors up, but did let me start them and drive around the lot. If he had one that I was more interested in we would have had to reach an understanding about that.

The fact that I own it and the only reason I financed ANY money on it was to get the insurance. Heck it was 0%. I did the same thing on my previous tractor except I financed it because I didn't have the money to buy it. Aside from that we have a very good dealer 3 miles away, friends that own and work at the dealership and I love JD tractors. Always have.

Started with an older used smaller Kioti. Was an xlnt 30 hp tractor. Wanted a larger tractor and when I saw they were having an awesome sale on the DK5010 about 4 years ago went for it. Sturdy, well built, no significant problems, does what I want. No tractor dealers close to where I live but the two Kioti dealers I have worked with have been very friendly, helpful, and responsive. Both are real tractor dealers.

I probably could have been happy with several other brands as well but would have paid considerably more for a comparable tractor from some.

What I hear a lot of you saying is the dealer had a lot of influence on your decision to purchase your specific brand of tractor.

Solely based on the price the dealer wants for replacement parts it must be the best brand.
