I am trying to adjust the valves on my Kubota B20 3 cyl.

Going by the shop manual it says start with the number 1 cyl at TC. It tells you to adjust 4 valves and then turn the engine 1 complete round and adjust the other valves. I know the firing order is 1 2 3 but which cyl is number 1 the front cyl or the rear cyl?

Also, why cant I just go by the 2 rocker arms that are loose at the same time until all 3 cyl are done?

The front is # 1… You want to be TDC because the cam that is operating the valve is a ramp. If at TDC the valves will be either fully open or completely closed. If your cam (ramp) is anywhere else, it is not necessarily full closed.

Thanks, I think I got it, its a lot quiter anyhow. It still dont start any quicker. I guess I need to look and learn what the pump is all about.
