Valvoline anyone use it

Don't want to start a war but does anyone use Valvoline oil, Cummins likes it, and the parent company is Ashland, which also makes Kubota's oils. I did use it a little in my younger years in some of my cars.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone speak of it here.

I use the full synthetic in all my vehicles, mainly because Advance Auto had it on sale for 1/2 price couple times in the last year!! Can't really tell any difference (of course).
They've been having a magazine ad recently saying it is better than Mobil 1.

I don't currently use it, but have in the past. It is very good oil. I have never had any problems with it, ie. sludge or break down. The reason I am not currently useing is because of manufacturer(sp) reccomenations, or cost. It is all I would use if I was still running a roundy round car.

I used to use it in the Race Car. I found that I ended up with sludge in the bottom of the oil poan from it. I changed to Kendall and the problem went away.

When I did the 50hr service on my NH2320 (TC45 update) a few weeks ago, I used Valvoline Premium Blue 15w-40. Only 10 or so hours on it since then, but it still runs.

Planning on next change before winter to use Premium Blue Extreme 5w-40, the synthetic flavor.

I have used Valvoline oil in my 2003 B7500HSD since the 50 hour oil change. I used DuraBlend 10W-30 until 600 hours, when I switched to Premium Blue Extreme 5W-40. The tractor now has 876 operating hours, probably 85% at 2600 RPM (540 PTO). The tractor starts well, and runs well. I have no personal experience with other oils in this tractor to compare with. My bottom line, I am happy with Valvoline.

Don't buy into the oil hype. Valvoline is a good product. For that matter any name brand oil and even some store brands will be just fine as long as it meets your motors specifications that can be found in the manual then confirmed on the back of the oil bottle.

I use a couple hundred gallons of oil a year for my personal stuff and my business. I buy what is on sale. It may be Quaker State this week and Shell next week. All the filters I use are Quaker State or Fram. I am guessing I do 100 plus oil changes a year in cars, trucks, tractors, boats, generators, airplanes, bulldozer's, dump trucks, you name it. I have never had a single oil or filter related problem.

I'm certainly no expert, but I use Mobil 1 in my tractor (primarily easier winter starting) and any name brand in everything else.
Anyway, there is an add in this months Car and Driver that claims that Valvolines "SYN power" full synthetic has 4X better wear protection then Mobil 1.
What that means exactly and how that relates to performance, I have no idea.

I've used valvoline since I bought my first car , over 30 yrs , lately been using the napa oil which is vavoline . No engine problems and no sludge

I always used to use Valvoline Racing Grade 60 in my Panhead and Ford 390, and Havoline 15-40 in everything else. Now I use Castrol GTX in my T-Bird, Rotella-T in my tractor, and whatever the Dodge dealer pours into my Cummins. Like Chris said though, if it meets the required specs of your engine and the price is right, it's good to go.
