On the east coast from mid morning until sunset Saturday, did anybody else notice lot of jet vapor trails..all the jet aircraft were flying from upper east to south down the coast line..seem to be military transports and at times they were three wide.

Kinda makes you wonder if we are once getting ready to head back over to Iraq etc..

Yes, I saw quite a few over MD on Saturday.

I think I read somewhere that their visibility is largely a function of upper atmospheric conditions When the conditions are right, you see the condensation (contrails), of all the jets up there.

I also noticed a large 4 engine jet at one point; could have been commercial or military for all I know. Immediately behinid the plane, there were 4 distinct contrails, but a ways back, these four had merged into what looked like two trails. They were just the right distance apart (for miles back) that it could have appeared as two jets flying in close formation.

We had a low pass from either a tanker or AWACs with 2 F-16 escorts in very tight formation off the wing tips. Due to the low cloud base (about 1000 ft. AGL) I only got a glimpse. Noisy. Also a bit surprising as they flew though what is a lightly used approach to Manchester airport.

I think those three planes did a fly-by at the start of the nascar race at loudon speedway yesterday. I have a camp in East Concord, bordering loudon.

Let me throw a little controversy into this topic. Here is a link to the website of a Houston radio celeb who died in 2000. He was big on contrails, ufos and such. Scroll down the page a bit and check out his pictures and comments about what he thought vapor trails really are. If you think this guy was not controversial check out the list of companies that visited his website in a four day period.

I do not endorse or necessarily agree with the views presented in this website. I am merely presenting them to give a different and unusual viewpoint.

Steven - You are correct. I saw the flyover on the TV broadcast. Chuck

It may be that we need to make a distinction between contrails and chemtrails. There seems to be some kind of spraying of chemicals of some kind being done by military planes. Some think it might be related to physicist Edward Teller's ideas about decreasing global warming by putting a form of aluminum in the air so that a larger percentage of heat is reflected away from earth. Analysis of this stuff has shown a lot of aluminum, from what I've heard.

Others say it's being used for over-the-horizon radar. It may be both, as separate operations.

What distinquishes the chemtrails is that they linger far longer than normal contrails, and are generally seen in a large pattern with many criss crosses kind of like a tic-tac-to board.

I gather that radar controllers from all over the country have reported these, and are somewhat disturbed by them as they can interfere with their radar operations. They will say they'll get a call from a nearby military base asking that normal traffic be re-routed or given a different altitude, and they aren't very forthcoming about what they're doing.

Anyone know anything about this?

Well not to start any unfounded rumors here. I was a USAF Air Traffic controller in MB. SC. from 77-81(No I didn't cross the picket lines when Ron fired most of the controllers) There are many zones resurved for the military throughout a 24 hour period. Some are low level bomb/gun ranges in upstate SC and off the coast.

We would occasionally see bufffs using them late at night very low level. I wouldn't want to have lived near those ranges when one of those flew over at 11:30pm.

And the only really strange thing I ever saw was a weak primary radar target that started in the SW corner of the scope(50mi radius) and in 3 sweeps(2.5secs/per) it moved off the NE corner of the scope. Basically, 10 miles off the coast about 11pm one night. The only thing that has that kind of speed would have been a SR-71. Ther were no secondary target for this and no flight plan, so we had no idea as to the flight level he was at, but it must have been HIGH.

Maybe they could do something to help the SE get some much needed rainfall????

Hi Gary,

Interesting about that high-speed target you acquired.

I'm not sure when the "chemtrails" allegedly started showing up.. but I think it was fairly recently.

Here's an article.. make of it what you will.. I have no idea but maybe you will have a sense of whether this sounds plausible or just more Internet nonsense.
