Vegetation killer?

The reason many people don't like roundup is that it takes a while to work. It may take two weeks for them to start wilting and a while longer to turn brown if they are not growing very fast. Roundup works best when the temperatures are high and the weeds are growing fastest. The impulse is to use a higher concetration to get quicker results but that can lead to burning off of the top of the plant but not getting the roots. the reason for the soap in the homemade solution is to get through the waxy layer of the leaves. You can buy surfactant in most farm stores to add to regular weed killer to increase the effectivness.
I don't know how much it differs from ragular dishwashing soap. My county extension agent said to just use dishsoap with the herbicide for my lawn.

2-4-D Is a broadleaf killer. Round-up is more of a grass killer. Mixed together they work well at killing all vegetation. Alone 2-4-d will kill the broad-leaf weeds and not hurt your lawn or pasture. Mixing diesel with round-up does the same as the soap, not sure which would be cheaper now and I wouldn't tell DHEC that I sprayed diesel out on some weeds or grass.

I just finished spraying a large field with Crossbow plus surfactant to kill blackberry, brush, and broadleaf weeds. It's been very effective.
