Look at it this way. If you don't want tracking and you don't want registration fees, ride a bicycle and do it naked.:D

..and that dandy cell phone you have in your pocket tracks as well.

Might as well renew your onstar and use the service. I have it, I like it. Far as being protected, that's what my CCW is for.:D

For somebody who drives less than 2500 miles a year, Onstar is way overpriced.

Wow, I had no idea how lucky we were here. My '01 Chevy truck will cost me about $50 to renew.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised how much cheaper Ohio is than MI!! I just transferred a MI title to OH, got my plate and registration for my motorcycle, total cost.....40 bucks.

here in nys we have to pay for 2 years worth of registration. If we use the vehicle for 1 year and 1 day, and turn in plates, we lose the whole year worths of registration.

Same 2 yr rip off in Maryland. I had to buy a Two year registration to drive my truck from Maryland to Oklahoma where I immediatly re-regestered it. I returned to Md and turned in the plates. I only got back the 2nd years worth of registration fees.

Maryland does not offer any form of temp registration for any purpose other than to transport your vehicle within the state for purpose of inspection.

We pay a hundred a year for the truck... actually it is $200 every two years for the sticker and it is based on weight of vehicle. They could actually record and measure number of miles
driven. We have to produce an up-to-date and valid insurance card to renew. They could check milage reading on dash at the time and check against previous record via a data base... it would probably slow the system down though and create more of a wait time in line. Up here we have the (*******) joy of paying for road maintenance vis huge fuel taxes - we pay just under $6 per gallon for high test. And our roads are bad... so bad some visiting bus tours have cancelled routes.

...but don't you like the soothing female voice? I do.

2.5K on Michigan roads equals 100,000 on other roads. Roads here flat suck.

I can't hear worth a (bleep). It could be Darth Vader or Miss America on the Onstar and I would never know the difference.

Don't mind the registration fees near as much as having to pay sales tax on used vehicles. It's already been collected every time the vehicle is sold!!! ~~ grnspot
