Vemeer Forestry Mulcher

I have just been told that Vermeer is developing a new forestry mulcher and that it's being trailed somewhere in Canada. Anyone else heard this rumour?:fishing:

It's simply a rebadged Terex PT110. That's it.

Not aware of any 200hp machine unless they plan on branding one. I do know they entered into some sort of agreement to brand the Terex PT110 to sell through their dealer network.

I've seen plenty of Terex machines at Vermeer with mulcher heads on them but hadn't heard about a dedicated machine. Is Supertrac still in business? Maybe they are building something under the Vermeer brand?

Vermeer will be branding a Terex PT110 with their own colors and decals.

There are building a dedicated machine 200+ hp. Its a ground-up build. Definitely NOT a Gyrotrac!! They have been there, done that. Also yes Supertrak is still in business. There website has a scaled down offering though.

I recall reading an article stating that Vermeer purchased the writes from a company in Canada to build mulchers. I don't recall the name of the company though. I believe these were in the 300 to 500 HP range though.

I see a lot of dedicated mulchers sitting and have had calls from operators looking for wrok. With several big names already out there in market selling good carriers, and others to be had, it seems that Vermeer is taking a big chance since their primary business hasn't been mulching. I like Vermeer, have owned two of their chippers and would own one of their tubs and horizontal grinders in a minute so I hope it works out. My thoughts, and I know what my opinion is worth.. :laughing: .. is that I believe there enough carriers capable of running a mulcher. I think coming up with a good head to match the carrier or developing powerpack/head combos for exisiting carriers, is the way to go so that a machine is multi-use. Maybe that's dreaming but as a businessman, if my mulcher was sitting unproductive, I'm not making money. If I could swap out the head and either a powerpack or just disconnect hydraulics and put on a bucket, forks, shear, etc., that would make sense. I know a lot of machines are capable of that but how many are marketed as a toolcarrier? Maybe Vermeer thought about that and could have a market for grinding rock and concrete with the same carrier being built for mulching. I think Iron Wolf has that already but uses multiple carriers.

They have specs on the uk and aussie Vermeer sites it's a FT300 290hp weighing in at over 30k lbs. Hydraulics are 4000psi at 128 gpm I believe it said.

I think Vermeer had help designing it. It sure does look to have some Risley influence, also the head frame sure does look to have some FAE influence. I heard it cuts pretty good, but not great or not as well as the machine it was targeted to compete against. But you have to start somewhere, adding more hp is easy if everything else checks out.

And 4000 psi is a touch weak. Give me another 50-60 hp and 5000 psi and I bet we would be in the ballpark. I bet its built into it already, just need to turn it up. Most pumps and motors are rated at 6k psi.

I wonder if they will move many against the new CAT going into production this month. That machine looks like a beast and has pressurized compartments (so they claim). The CAT looks like it will do the job where a rubber-tired machine is warranted.
With so many different machines already out there, I wonder why Vermeer would get into this line and spend so much on R&D (assumed)? Maybe they are targeting S. /Central America and Africa?

That machine was at the logging show in Vermont last weekend I was sitting in it pretending what I could do with it for a day sure looks like if it could do some work and they have a skid steer version also

That looks like a cimaf head to me, atleast it has the same drum. And if I had to guess its a camo plast machine, as fecon is now building in house. Seems like Vermeer signed campo plast up

LOOKS like a Cimaf, but it is not. Watch the new heads coming out, might see a trend. It is a pure Vermeer machine, I know they had help designing but it's all Vermeer. My bet is Vemreer is betting on there customer's being loyal and wanting to buy as much as possible with the Vermeer label. It will work in Texas but time will tell. Like many are posting, the market is a bit down for high HP mulchers. They are about 2 yrs too late.
