I thought about the potential impact of the second post and the perception it might create, but I just couldn’t resist making it. I have no agenda. I just thought it was pretty funny. Nothing more. Nothing less. I wish I had thought of the second post first. The first one turned into a “how to cook venison” lesson. Didn’t intend for that to happen either. When someone posts words, even with the smiley face thingies pasted everywhere; it is still apparently easy to miss the intent. There is no voice tonality to help readers discern one’s true meaning.

Let me repeat for those who still do not get it: I have no agenda. For the hard of hearing out there: I HAVE NO AGENDA!!

Any questions?

$37.70 a pound is not bad for all the enjoyment I get being out in the woods and having a good time with friends. Getting a deer or elk is just a bonus for me. I like the meat but I would be out there even if I never got an animal.

I spent $500 in just diesel fuel last year, bought food and beer. Used all my already owned stuff, truck, gun, clothes. Had a great time and plan on being out there again in November.

Last deer I killed cost me $1500 worth of sheet metal and plastic parts for the front end of my wife's new Trail Blazer with 58 whole miles on it. And I didn't even get to keep it.

I like to go ice fishing...

Lifetime comprehensive fishing license was about $270 when I bought it in 1999. I was 38 and it will be good until I croak. At the time, it was $14.00 a year for a license, but recently, they discontinued the lifetime licenses in Indiana due to they finally realized that they were losing money. The annual fees have gone up and they are(or maybe already have) taking away the 65 year old exemption and charging a low fee for seniors. Anyway, I would have had to buy licenses until I was 65, so $270 divided by 27 years = $10 a year. Can't figure that into my equation due to an unpredictable number of fishing trips per year. But the following numbers are close(gas prices fluctuate)... so here goes...

Bait $3.00.
Gas to the closest lake $6.00.
Food and drink $5.00.
Lost hooks, line, etc... $2.00.

$16.00+ for a couple bluegill that maybe total 1/2 pound, so that's about $32.00 a pound... not quite venison, but pretty pricey to say the least. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh yes Moss, Fishing is another expensive per pound sport.

Many people:

15 K for a bass boat.
27K for a truck to pull it.
2-3 K workth of baits and such.
etc....

$27.00 for car keys.
$11.00 for maglite.
$19.50 for cheap rod/reel combo.

That's the beauty ice fishing...

New plastic bucket to sit on... $0.00 if you scrounge dumpsters behind fat food joints. More $$ if you buy drywall joint compound and dump it out just for the bucket. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
