Vent the heat? Louvers?

/ Vent the heat? Louvers? #11
Is the engine fan working? The engine fan should be moving enough air to displace engine heat. Did the fan have a shroud? If yes, was the shroud removed? Boiling gas would excite me. I have only witnessed one liquid vapor explosion in my lifetime, happy to say I witnessed from some distance away and was told after the fact it was a liquid vapor explosion.

Watch the woman keep trying to look over the fence: BLEVE - Acronym for Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapour Explosion - YouTube (This is not the explosion I witnessed)

There was rapid release of a gas from the gasoline inside of the tank. If it wasn't boiling I don't know what to think.

The fan dose work but I'm not sure about the shroud. I'm still going to put in a heat shield but I'll also look into the shroud. Thanks for the bleve lesson. I did not know about that.

After a few hours of work today I shut off my NAA I noticed quite a bit of vapor venting from the gas cap. I opened it slowly to find that the gas was boiling in the tank...I let it cool obviously then started thinking about how to keep the gas cooler since it sits on top of the motor on my old Ford. I want to put some heat shielding on it to deflect some heat, but I'm curious if anyone has put louvers in their hoods to vent the heat? My temp gauge shows normal temp range during operation so I'm not VERY alarmed but would like some opinions or ideas on this. Thanks!

How about finding some methanol free gas? Some gas stations are carrying it for recreation vehicles. It might improve tractor/engine performance.

I was looking at it a few mins ago and thought about heat wrap. I might try to wrap the muffler. I think that would greatly reduce the level of radiant heat coming off the muffler. Also, the fan does work fine and there is a shroud around it.
