Venting..Neighbor drove over and killed dog today.

Ya never know. Kentucky state law might say something about leaving scene if animal hit. There are a lot of old laws that are on the books. In my part of the country there also laws against animals running loose. In fact, if a dog gets out of his pen, the "dog catcher" can pick up the dog and fine the owner. In any case, it's sad the dog got hit.

I'd have to stop for the dog or my conscience would be the death of me. I have a real soft spot for animals, especially dogs. (I'm the guy that pulls over for a turtle and helps him across the road.)

Rudy was cremated today in Castro Valley, and his ashes will be scattered in Glen Ellen, where he spent the first years of his life. I didn't know you could do this. At 145 lbs, Rudy a great dane was quite impressive.

The father of the lady that "Hit" Rudy stopped by to see me this evening to say that he appreciated how we are dealing with things and that his daughter doesn't "think" she hit him.

The "road" where Rudy was hit is private and belongs to me. Since Rudy never left my property, it never occured to me that something like this could happen.

Private road + easement + fast driver = speed bumps.

I would get some speed bumps put in now, while the father is not going to complain. It sounds like you could put some in so that the folks on the easement have to go over a few that you don't need to hit...

Depending on this woman's "learning disabilities" hopefully her parents will seriously consider the consequences and potential for that to have been Rudy his child and not his dog that was struck and just left.
