dmp437 mentioned his vertical exhaust in another thread,m and I beat these pictures outta him. He was kind enough to send me these and agree to let me put them up. I hope he will chime in and give a little more feedback. But From the looks of things, I think I will just go by and see more of his place. But then he'd probably make me work, and I don't have to leave home for THAT! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

<ul type="square"> [*]The bar stock hooked to the exhaust clamp hooks to the alternator to make the exhaust pipe a little more rigid.
The kit is JD No. LVB25106, price was $97.90

Thanks,

Doug (dmp437)

Mike -

I like the exhaust setup. From what I can tell, he had to notch the hood to make it fit. Is that true?

Looks that way to me. Like I said, maybe Doug will jump in with more info. I will try and look at my panels and see if there is a knockout for this, I wouldn't be surprised if there is.

I haven't ever noticed my tailpipe getting that hot, so I don't see a problem with the polymeer being affected by the pipe going through there.

BTW I am NOT considering doing this, I like where my stock setup is. But it is nice to see the option, as there are some who have complained about the underhood setup.

Thanks again for the pics Doug!

The hood doesn't have a knockout. There is a relief in the hood mold so you can see where it goes, but the hood is the same thickness with no perfs. The kit comes with a paper template as part of the instructions that you lay on the hood 545 mm (21.50") from the rear edge to precisely locate the cutout. I then made a series of overlapping holes with a 7/8" dia. carbide hole cutter and finished shaping it with a carbide burr in a die grinder.
The deepest breathe of the evening was before the first hole; checking JDParts a new hood was $300 /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Now that it's done I'm very pleased with the results. There's no exhaust smell at all no matter where I'm at and no more "hot left foot" when mowing /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh, I know that feeling! When cel phones first came out, I was an installer. Walk up to a brand new Mercedes with a center punch and hole saw, and tell them you are about to cut a whole in the center of the roof... I could've (almost) kissed whoever invented glass mount antennas!

Pretty cool! I would do that, except I know it would only last about 10 minutes until it got bent back pointed directly at my face from a low branch on my heavily wooded property. Nice setuo, though
