I used to store my IH2500b, with a gas engine, for 6-7 months every winter out at our remote property. I'd put stabil in the fuel, fill the tanks all the way up, shut off the fuel shutoff valve before the carb, then run it till it ran out of fuel. In spring, I'd open the fuel shutoff valve and start it up. Did that for 10 years or so. As long as you treat the fuel, it will keep for a year or more. You'll have more problems with dirt in your carb VS gas that has gone bad over your lifetime, so get a good fuel filter in there, too.

On fuel Stabil, I was told to use Marine Stabil and that it preserves the fuel better than regular Stabil. It does seem I have better results with the Marine stuff so just an FYI.

According to Stabil's website, the only difference is the marine deals with condensation better than the regular stuff.

Good to know. Thank you.

My tank has a filter and then a redundant water block filter. I've done this for decades and never had even a hint of injector problem. Cheap insurance. It's the only way to fly.

What do you use for a water block?

I recently heard there is a better water block than what I have been using.

I have been using the tank filters with the water trap on the bottom.

I use CIM TEK filters. One is a combo filter and water trap filter. It does not have a drain at the bottom but I understand it stops flowing when it's full. The other is just their regular filter and I run them both in line at the tank. Both are spin on cannister filters. The water trap filter really would be enough but I figured what the heck and installed both.

They were bought at either Shoup Ag Parts or Sloan Ag Parts mail order.

There is the option to rent or lease also. First tractor I got was leased with option to buy. Worked out great. Just know the contract.

The same brand I use for the most part. I am dealing with Shoups now. They do not always stock what I have.

I used to deal with Meier OIL until they sold out to FS. FS shut down their filter division. FS Sucks.

All the big farmers around here use CIM TEK and they are pretty savvy people. If it works for them it works for me. Plus, Shoup and Sloan's carry the best and most popular items.

All I know is what I have seen other go through regarding the aggravation of an injector, dirt or water problem. These issues can take a long time to diagnose and repair plus dealing with downtime and potential repairs in a distant field under adverse conditions. I went with the extra filters 25 years ago and in a few thousand hours have NEVER had a fuel problem.

Plus, I added Stanadyne Performance fuel treatment and figured it was icing on the cake. Somewhere in a thread I posted pics of one of my tanks with the filters. I have two tanks.
