I went through a lot of my Dad's paperwork yesterday. His life is now in two brief cases. I saw a lot of his travel orders, Western Union, assignments to duty stations and his paper work for climbing through the ranks. Not bad for a kid rescued from an orphanage that was sponsored by the church during WWII in Europe. Someone wrote a book about that. Quite a read, hits...well close to home.

I am waiting to give him his final wish. To be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. There he will lay with his brothers and my friends.

Salute, reflection and remembrance to all who serve and served.

I had the privilege of attending a Remembrance Day ceremony on Kiwi Base in Afghanistan back in 2009, I am thankful to have been in attendance.

Thank you guys, and the Kiwi's, for hanging out with us in Afghanistan- no matter how it ended.
The Aussies in Vietnam were great soldiers, very boisterous when possible. A great asset to the effort.

Australia contributed to WWII in Europe, North Africa, etc. and of course in the South Pacific.

Hacksaw Ridge.

From what I have read, they were worried the movie was too Hollywood and people would not realize it was based on true events.
BEST part of that movie were the sound bites in the credits from the Vets. IMHO
