Veteran\'s Day Soldier

I am in the National Guard in Birmingham Ala. Birmingham claims to have one of the largest V-Day parades in the U.S. Yesterday I was a parade marshall for the equine division. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Andrew G. Tsimpides. He was a member of the 8th Cavalry when the 8th Cav. rode horses in 1938. He still has his original saddle and uniform. He recently had new boots made as his were worn out. He is 87 years young. Attached is his picture.

I had a great uncle who was the last surviveing member to serve under Custers 7 th cavalry. They had made a commercial with him in it. He stayed at Ft. Wachuka, AZ. I dont know if I spelled that right. I never really knew him. I had family members from both sides in the Civel war and have my great great Grand fathers CW medals as well as the tiniest pocket knife you could imagine that he carried through the entire war. I can even keep a knife that long. My cat snatches my pocket knifes right off my night stand /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I guess she needs them for those late night snacks. Sounds like a good time. Not tooo many of the cavalry boys left any more. Dave
