Videos of a "Piranha" toothbar working

dennis54,

I want a tooth bar for the same reason--to pull all of the "stringers" (possibly, locust tree roots, growing through and just under the grass? Do locust trees do this?) out of the neighbor's back yard, so he can garden.

I've read that the "hot setup" is W.R. Long's "flat toothbar"--see this TBN thread (sorry, but it's GREEN):
JD 5525 now with WR Long Flat Flat Toothbar http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/john-deere-owning-operating/114767-jd-5525-now-wr-long.html

So...I wanted to know if you can do "flat backdragging" with the Piranha toothbar, as well? Because I anticipate spreading gravel and dirt, in the future, yet I still want a tooth bar--not just for the neighbor's project, but to protect the cutting edge of the bucket, as well as to maximize digging power, generally.

Thanks,

My Hoe
I do not have a Piranha. I've never seen one and don't know anyone personally that does. Now that said and out of the way.
I own a RatchetRake. Actually I'm on my second one because I sold my bigger tractor that I used my first one on. I immediately bought the second one when I got the smaller tractor. It is my easiest to install and remove implement I have. There is no drilling, it just straps on. I usually have it installed on my front bucket but my neighbor has it now and has for several months (winter time I don't use it) but I'll be getting it back soon.:)
The RatchetRake will remove scrub brush, weeds, briars and small trees effortlessly per my experience. It does an incredible job but........my main use for the RR is leveling out dirt (my yard) by back dragging with the lower row of evenly spaced small teeth. You can NOT dig into anything with the RR since it is L shaped. If one wants to dig into a pile of something and not remove the implement the Pirinha appears to be the better device.

I don't know if there are different kinds of locust trees but the ones we have in Central Kentucky have just a normal root system. They don't send runners out across the yard. We have a lot of locust trees in our woods that I am cleaning out. We won't be making it in to a lawn so I am just cutting the stumps off at ground level so we won't hit them with the bush hog when we mow.
I hope this helps.

I'm looking for a toothbar that will dig my clay soil and also for removing willows and scrub brush, I saw some post about the Piranha. Besides it's intimidating looks, according to BXpanded and the posts here it should suit my needs perfectly. Hopefully someone will soon post a video of it working some dirt and clearing brush. I need something in the next month if I want to keep ahead of things this summer.

Must be different kinds of Locust and I think there is. I believe one is called a Black Locust. I owned a house here in Somerset, Ky in 1976 that had a Locust tree on my extra lot that would have little Locust trees coming up all over the lot it seemed like in a few days. I just mowed them down with a riding mower. The tree also had thorns that would just eat me up if I got close to them and seemed like they would get me if I looked at them. Hated that tree!!:D
