Vinyl siding for a shed roof?

A product that I have recently used on a shed roof was Ondura roof panels. Sell them at Menards. Pretty cheap, look nice, and they are easy to work with.

I used this on our chicken coop last year. They have been up there for a year now. They are holding up very well. I used gray and they seem to do a decent job of reflecting the heat. The coop isn't insulated, but it doesn't seem overly hot in there and the birds still go in and out like normal during the day and spend their nights in as well.

I can't tell if you put a moisture barrier down or not but I would definitely put down cheap shingles before I ever dreamed of putting siding on a roof. Siding keeps most of the water out on a wall but it is far from a 100% barrier which is why it must be coupled with moisture barier taped and flashed properly to prevent the water from comming in a house. I had a leak in my house at a window not because the siding was installed correctly but because bastard contractor didn't put up a moisture barier. The house was built before we moved in. I did siding for a company when i was in high school for a couple summers.

Ondura. You can walk on it, if your underlayment is ply or very closely spaced nailers. Not like metal.
I put it on a run-in shed and found it susceptible to puncture from falling limbs [1-2" diameter] and general deterioration in under 10 years.
Decent enough for covering firewood etc., or for temporary shelters.

Since you are covering with boards why not simply use rolled asphalt roofing for a quick and dirty roofing?
Roll asphalt should last you at least 10 yrs and is fast cheap and easy.
