I picked up my new Virnig rock bucket Saturday. The dealer and I had not expected it to arrive before the 15th, so it was a pleasant surprise.
Deciding which one to buy was a bit of a struggle, as I didn't want one too heavy for my D40 with LX116 loader, so I decided to go with the 60" SRV60-CT, which weighs 330 lbs. After using the rock bucket, I regret not ordering the SRV66-CT, which is 67.5" wide and weighs 355 lbs. The wider bucket would be easier to see from the tractor seat and the small additional weight would have been unnoticed.
Other than this, I am quite pleased with this product. I did not get the grapple, and had I done so, it would have made a real difference in what I could do with the rock bucket. Jim (jinman) was quite generous with his time and showed me his setup with rock bucket and grapple. Thank you Jim! Looks like I gotta start saving for remotes and grapple
I was able to spend a couple of hours using the rock bucket and was impressed with its abilities. Moved a few rocks, but mostly brush and stumps.
If the weather and my getting-older-too-fast body allow, I will spend most of tomorrow cleaning the place up.
