If you're looking for a good quality budget priced digital camera, Target has the Vivitar 3555T digital camera on sale for $70. Not 35MM quality, but great for posting pictures on the web and prints are not too bad as long as you don't plan to have them blown up to a larger size, and some decent features and quality for the money.

Since this thread is on the subject of cheap digital cameras, I just paid $99 for an Olympus D-380 2 Megapixel camera. It blows my old HP 1.3 MP camera away. The only place I have seen them for this price is Circuit City.

Hi Jerry,

For the lower resolution, its looks very nice... post a few in the highest res. and reduce the pix for posting...

Here is a pic I took of the tractor in the dark shop just now. Took it at full resolution, then shrunk it down to about 30% and saved 50% Jpeg.

I use a Mavica FD 100. I like the fact that you can use floppies for picture storage. In addition, it has 6x optical zoom and a bunch of different special effects modes. I also like the extended run time on the batteries of 180 minutes. I had a little Kodak and it lasted about 15 minutes on a set of 4 lithium batteries. I always had to have a set in the charger. I believe I paid about $210.00 for the Mavica from Gateway. It came with a case and extra battery. I use the 480x640 format and the re-do the photo's using LViewPro for posting. I believe the program is public domain software. Cheap digital cameras are like cheap anything, limited capabilities.

True, but there are cases when features aren't needed and simplicity and low cost is more important. I bought 2 of the Vivitar 3555T digital cameras for birthday presents for my twins. A kid doesn't need features, just something simple and easy to use. I also wanted a lower MP camera so they could take a fair number of picture using just the internal memory, since memory cards are not cheap. It has 3 quality levels and the middle one is 1MP, so they can take decent quality pictures and there's enough internal memory for 35 pictures. I also had a 10% coupon, so I got them pretty cheap.

My kid(s) are grown up now so that's not a consideration for me. Now (I) can have toys too!!!!

The Kodak DC125 was about $10.00 cheaper to buy than the Mavica. Granted, I bought the Kodak about 2 years ago but I bought it a Wally Mart.

I was told that the Sony Mavica FD's have come down substantially in price over the las few years too.

My only problem with ANY digital camera is that I like to take pictures in the winter, outside, during snowmachining trips and the lithium batteries are junk in the cold. I use the one-time cameras that Kodak and others sell. They work good for that.

I also carry a one-time use camera in each of our vehicles. Pictures are worth a thousand words to your insurance carrier if you happen to get in an accident.
