Excellent news! I know you are anxious to get that thing working. I talked to my dealer a few days ago. Deere is really running into some problems with deliveries. They are getting a lot more orders for CUTs than expected. He tries to keep several 790s in stock but is having a hard time getting them and 40 series units allocated. Good thing you got yours now. It's probably going to be harder to get a reasonable delivery time later in the season. I don't want to dampen your enthusiam but I'd recommend going over the tractor with manual in hand and checking wheel nut torque, grease fittings, check for leaks and fluid levels, etc... before you start using it.

My dealer said he was trying to get 3, one for me, one for another customer and one for a floor model. So far in 45 days only mine has come in.

I will check everything over.

Hey, I just have a minute because I am due at the BBQ.

Tractor ran great I babied it for 1 hour then jumped in to my worst spot with the RM. Worked great even chopped a boulder in 2 . Oops, no damage also hit some pretty huge stumps but no problems. The place is so overgrown i can't help it. this amchine willlsee some abuse for amonth and then have anice life /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now one little suprise. Everyone has been wondering why JD was listing 2 HP #s for the 790. Well the 27 vs. 30 HP # comes from the new motor they are using the tractor has a 3TNE82 JK not a 3TNE84. Something like 83 cu " vs. 91 cu ". Not real happy about that but that is why I jumped into my worst stuff. If it had problems, it might have gone back.

Well I am quite pleased it never even changed RPMs maybe a slight change in motor pitch but that's it. Mowed for a couple of hourstemp. guage rock solid and eveything great. Used FEL a little lifted a nice size boulder and that was that.

JD DOES need to get the website and publications in order, conflicting HPs are one thing but diff motors are another.

Still very happy but it was a little shock. I think a few of the other new 790 owners better check under the hood????? Don't read the booklet look at the motor itself.

Whiskey just got one I wonder if he was lucky or is in the same boat?

All in all I love it and I will foget this little 'change" in a day or 2. The thing that bothers me is that I am a researchaholic if I can't trust advertised specs why research?

Would buy it again anyway. PICS later

That is interesting news about the engine switch. I agree that JD does a poor job in the documentation department. My 4310 manual has maintenance procedures for a rockshaft filter that is no longer used on that unit. I've found other mistakes in their printed and web site info. The good news is that it is still a Yanmar engine. Yanmar lists a 3TNE82A engine on their web site that might be yours. Also given the weight and size of the 790 I don't think you will be undersized power wise.

Yes it's a 3TNE82 A- JK to be exact.

No it handles everything fine, I think I would wreck the LX-5 cutter long before the motor runs out of power. The tractor worked great and I have no complaints. I just don't like suprises when I think I have everything figured outu. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I had a great time and got alot accomplished in 4 hours considering I never even really drove a tractor until today. Tomorrow I will put in a full day and I can,t wait!
