Your of and on of the connectors was simply a power off reset to some logic controller.
True, that is why the old style tractors never had problems and are still running today. Although they do smoke a lot more than the new tractors.

Yesterday I went out and fired up my Kioti and started driving up my driveway. I made it 20 feet before the shift indicator switched over to L from H and the calibration light came on and the tractor stopped moving. I let it roll back down the driveway, got out my needle nose pliers and dielectric grease. One by one I pulled apart the connectors, tweaked the terminals a little bit and greased them up. After doing each one I calibrated the shifter lever, started the tractor only to find the calibration light was still on. Just for S+G's I decided to turn the key on, hold the calibration switch in and push the forward and reverse pedals all the way down and held them there for 10 seconds each. The light was still on. I turned the ignition off and back on. The calibration light was now off. The shift lever was working properly. I used my tractor for the next 3 hours shutting it off every time I stopped to clear branches and pull vines out of the trees. In the end my tractor was working fine. Later on I was looking in the repair manual and found this information in the electrical section that there is mention of calibrating the HST pedals after changing the potentiometer switch. It is on page 12-81. I know my potentiometers both had been taken out for testing a few hundred hours ago and one replaced under warranty because it was defective. I do not know if the following was done to set them properly. This morning I am going to go thru this procedure to reset them. Here is the information to do this procedure. "Forward and reverse driving pedal setting" You need to set the parking brake. Turn the ignition on while holding the calibration switch in for 2 seconds. This is to let the shift lever go thru the motions of finding itself. It will go thru a series of N, L, N, M, N, H, N, L, N, M, N, H, N. Then release the parking brake. Continue with the following procedures with the ignition still on. "Pedal upper limit position setting" Turn on the no stall switch into no stall mode, push the cruise control button once. The neutral lamp will go out and the calibration light will come on. If the setting is incorrect the cruise light will blink. Continue with this procedure. "Pedal lower limit position setting" Put the no stall switch into the speed limit position. Depress the HST forward and reverse pedals together all the way down. Push the cruise control button once. The calibration lamp will be off and the N lamp will be on. If the setting is incorrect the cruise light will blink. Release the HST pedals. To save and complete this procedure turn your ignition off. I hope this will save somebody a lot of aggravation someday. UPDATE My tractor was fine this morning. I ran the procedure from the repair manual. My tractor failed it. I now have the L light on in all positions of the shift lever and the calibration light is on again. I'm back to square one. GGGGRRRRR.

I prefer to have a lot less computer/electronics on my tractor. (no offense meant)

I wholeheartedly agree 100%. I went out just now to do the procedure that I mentioned from the repair manual. It failed to work. Now I am back at square one again. My tractor was fine this morning before running this procedure. I should have left it alone. Maybe the procedure is incorrect or I do have a problem.

I got it working again only to fail 3 more times during the day and many attempts to get it up and running again each time. I definitely have an electrical gremlin and will need to try and figure it out or bring it to the dealer. I did get the Calibration light to blink out a #12 code. I'll try to find that in the repair manual tomorrow. I have had enough of this for today. It is running right now. I also found a way to trick the system. If both the N and Cal light are on when you are done you can put the no stall switch on and hit the cruise control several times until the Cal light goes out. I shut the key off and my tractor was fine again.

It would appear you have picked up an electrical gremlin - free of charge.

I agree with the little gremlin. This morning my tractor started right up and it is working fine. I just spent 2 1/2 hours of running time up on our woodlot removing grape vines, multi flora roses and bittersweet from our trees. I just came out of the woods and shut it off. It started right up again first try. Hopefully that is the end of this madness.

The only time I ever had a problem with either of my tractors - the ground to frame on the Ford 1700 was loose. It would go a while - then stop. Finally - I heard - click, click, click. The ground - making, breaking contact.

Well the Gremlin is back with a vengeance again. Yesterday the Calibration light came on right after getting out on the road. I couldn't clear it and had to use my forks to push my tractor 200 feet backwards to get my tractor back into my driveway. Boy was I p-ssed off. I checked all the plugs, nothing was loose. The shift lever was reading H in all 3 positions. Today I got the Cal light to clear finally and I was using my tractor until the Cal light came on solid. Cleared it again probable 30 times during the afternoon. Several times the cruise light was flashing along with the Cal light. Now I have no N light in neutral positions and the H light is on in all gears with a dim L light also on. The only way to start it is by jumping the starter solenoid. I guess it is time to bring it to the dealer to debug this POS. It only has 900 hours on it and it has really been a knee jerking SOB ever since I bought it. The picture of the lit H and L is with the tractor in nuetral. The Cal light is actually flashing.

It is not impossible that the whole problem is dust and moisture. Dust has minerals in it and they are conductive. If that's contaminated a board you could get the weirdest results.

you might find it easier to replace the module or even the whole computer than it might be to run that down.
