I am currently waiting to hear back from the dealer re: availabilty of anL4610hst in Northern Vermont. He has come up with a pretty solid deal, but doesn't have any in stock. He is only 8 miles from the farm and has worked with several members of the wife's family that farm full time. He has sold them a number of large Case/IH units.

Today's minor dilemma: I have only been waiting 48 hours to hear back, but I am looking for an excuse to call in and check without appearing too eager. ;)

Any creative ideas?

If you already have a solid deal that you are happy with, then call now! No excuses needed other than you want a tractor. The dealer is not likely to up his price just because you seem eager. Everyone is eager when they are close to buying a tractor. A fresh reminder might make the dealer pursue finding one for you a little more aggressively, especially if he thinks you might become impatient and look elsewhere.

Go ahead and appear eager! Might make the dealer know you're a good potential customer for implements and other services. I'd prob'ly be offer'n to go get it

I've decided on a 4610 for next year. I'm tired of the summer heat and figger you only go 'round once in life, so I'm get'n the 4610 with full cab and air. Just out of curiosity, could you please tell me what you're pay'n?

Thanks...

Sounds like a darn good deal. My dealer's got a 4310 with cab, but the 4610 has the "M" series front axle and doesn't cost that much more. I haven't asked my dealer for a price yet because I'm not quite ready to trade. My wife's making me wait until next spring because I just bought the L2600DT (30 hours) w/FEL and she thinks it's a bit soon to be trading /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

Nope! Just a very understanding wife who doesn't mind making a few sacrifices /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

2 comments, 1. Don't Wait/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif 2. That cab adds a lot of sacrifices that I'll bet wasn't in the price mentioned above.
Just tell the wife how much better trade-in allowance you'll get on a new tractor w/ only 30 hrs. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hi Mutt...

I like your way of look'n at things /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif. But... I don't wanna press my luck and have her decide that all these sacrifices are gonna stop. Besides... I've already done a bunch of whining 'n plead'n and she won't budge /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif. Spring's not that far away so I figger I can wait /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

The dealer's got a 4310 cab model and he priced it at $23,000 without FEL. I figger I can get the 4610 cab with FEL for around $26,000 or maybe a little less. Of course I can't tell my wife the "real" cost. She thinks I only paid $7,000 for the L2600

Boy, do I know how you feel. I stumbled on a 4610 with 4 hours on it sitting in a dealers lot. Surrounded by 3010's and 3710's It had been there since last summer, go figure. My hangup was the implements I ordered were not available, mostly a Woods 9000 hoe. That held it up for a month. Finally the dealer brought me the tractor and said he would come pick it up when the hoe came in and bring it back. Well thats where I sit now, waiting for it. Promised for saturday afternoon. While he has it down there they are replacing a leaking hydraulic cylinder and a boiled over battery. At least I got to put on 15 hours while I had it. What a wonderful tractor! I am sure others will echo that. I traded off a 24 horse Case IH (mitsubishi) gear drive tractor that I'd bought new in 88. It certainly did not owe me anything and I was abit teary eyed to see it leave on the dealers trailor, but as he said, "turn around and look at what's sitting in your shop"
THERE AINT NO COMPARISON. My suggestion is too go out on a limb abit and buy the best implements you can WITH the tractor. Maybe you have lots of bucks, but I don't, and this is the only way I could afford to buy what I wanted. I made the mistake the first time around and told myself, "Ill just buy the tractor now and get the implements later" Didn't work out as well as I'd hoped, and the stuff I did buy was marginal at best. This time I financed a Woods 9000 hoe with Rankin thumb, A Landpride 2560 brush cutter, LP 3584 backblade, 7 foot Curtis frontmount snowplow, Rankin bucket forks and a 8 inch Crary 25HP towed Chipper. Now we are talking more money than I care to think about, being of moderate means, but at least I can get the job done and not strain underrated equipment doing it. I also think this stuff will have a lot more resale value should the time come to trade or sell. Enjoy the hunt, Shopping for the critter is half the fun.

Treeboone,

Obviously that tractor and all of those (darn this keyboard is slippery with drool for some reason!) implements must be a dream come true! I would say. "have fun", but that would be redundant!

Now if you ever feel the need to dump your implements, I would be glad to "dispose" of them for you!!! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

O.K..... I left a message on Friday and the dealer left me one on Saturday. When we finally connected Monday he was able to say that, yes he had found one! He will be going to get it today or tomorrow. With a little luck it could be at the farm by Thursday!? I won't count my chickens just yet.

The attitude you find is puzzling sometimes, I felt like I was bugging them about a 200 dollar lawn mower rather than a 24,000 dollar tractor. I went back to the dealership today and had a closer look at the other Kubotas and New Hollands, being a little more familiar with the 4610. I still think it the best choice for what I wanted. The loader is what really sold me originally. You are going to love it!
