Where do I begin.....
No, not the official team motto of the Chicago Cubs

I started back in early spring with a list of home projects that were planned for completion this summer. There's still a few weeks of decent weather left, but not enough to finish all that was planned. I'm probably not alone.

What major undertaking have you not undertaken?

Mine WAS to rip up 4' X 60'+ of old brick sidewalk running from the back porch to the driveway, then replace it with a NEW brick sidewalk that isn't below grade. (Old one traps water, then freezes in the winter)

I'm proud of the fact that the list is only one item long! ;)

All of my projects were delayed due to Katrina. Some of the things that I had planned to have done by the end of this year (not possible now) are:
Tear down old barn.
Add 12' onto new barn.
Haul rocks from Ozarks for ornamental pond.
Paint old hunting truck.
Clear 2 more acres of woods to grow hay on.
Remove, cut, burn 50 more trees that were downed by Katrina.
Finish training on my two young horses.
Take wife on Alaskan cruise.
Plant more fruit trees and berry bushes.
Fix leak in truck toolbox.
Figure how to get hay from Lumberton MS to my barn with no mishaps.
Sit in rocking chair with my favorite beverage and watch the grass grow.

 Two words....ATTAINABLE GOALS. ;)

I've got ideas of doing quite a bit to this place. But the list starts off smaller every year. Years ago, as soon as I finished a list, another one materialized. Once "the big stuff" is caught up, I take a more liesurely approach to projects. Getting older makes you look at things from one of two perspectives. Either get in a panic to get everything done as soon as possible, before you get any older, OR, Realize the list won't ever be finished and do what you can (or want), don't sweat the rest. I'm now officially in group II.

Mornin Bill,
The biggest job not started would be dig up cellar floor and install drainage pipe around the perimeter. Ive got a good idea on how to do it but seem to lack proper motivation ! Im trying to wrap up putting the plow back together and also splitting and stacking of next years wood supply. But when the cooler weather comes and the wood stove is goin I will try and get myself to jack hammer some concrete ! :( ;) :) Oh my back hurts allready ! :)

FWJ - I'll trade you the sidewalk for:

New patio
New Deck
Finish fence
New Kitchen
New Baths (x2)
and countless more minor projects.

I did finish up replacing the 2 rotting garage windows this weekend (involved residing 1/2 the garage)

You just need to rent this beast & be done in 1/2 day

Borrowing a CAT hoe w/ hoe ram from my employer soon. UNFORTUNATELY, I have to put the brick walk back IN by hand. Shouldn't be such a major chore. Going back in over sand bed. Tree roots have all but destroyed the old concrete and brick walk. (Besides it's being 4" lower than the surrounding grade) Gonna make it a little more "flexable".

I was going to do the new walk in August. My wife says I'm finishing it in November. I'm thinking NEXT August. She's thinking NEXT WEEK.
