The DR is worth the extra $100. I've had mine for 15 years, still works well. I have upgraded the head and replaced the belt twice in all that time. There is a learning curve in using it. There is enough power to eat the string in a hurry if you try to mow with the hub instead of the string tip.

I picked up a package of Shakespeare Ugly Line in .155 at Lowes. It comes in a small spool with cutter included. I tried it out yesterday and it is hands down better than the precut .155 line at TSC. The line is triangular in shape, lasts much longer, cuts better.

I have a swisher.

it eats stuff up good. just keep it out of wire fences, and nothing bigger than yer lil finger and green. IE. no tree sprouts.

oh yeah.. wear ear, eye protection. dust mask too. :)

Sorry to bujtt in but I am looking at one of these for my 5 acre parkland block and my big concern is that with my over the shoulder trimmer I am always bump feeding the line. Is this what happens with these, bercause they have no feed ability. I am very worried that I will have to keep stopping and replacing tghe line, oir cutting a tiny swathe and wasting my efforts. Is this a big problem? How tough is the line?

Thanks

Nick

In my experience with a DR, the line is significantly tougher than with hand held trimmer. As long as I don't hit masonry it seems to last ages. No worries with it not being on a reel.

As noted above, by HappyGilmore, the Shakespeare Yellow .155 line works very well. If line breaks its takes only a few seconds to replace.

OK. Thanks for that. The line trimmer seems to be a better option in really long/thick grass as there is no deck in the way, so if they have good tough lines then that's all good.

If you'd uses small pieces if string precut, nits usually cheaper to buy it in a spool, if you will use it much
