Reputable tire shops will not do any work on a car with tires that do not meet safety standards. ie; worn or weather checked. They did the right thing.
I've run into the same situation. The shop would not replace the front tires because one rear tire had uneven wear. I was not pleased to buy four tires that day, but I accept it as the right thing to do.
The next time you drive by an accident you should go thank Wally world for having a social conscience.

Not trying to pump up WalMart. No sir.

However, "life" is a legal term. Usually 5 years. Sorry. You didn't say how old the tires were.

I hate to say it but went to WalMart for new valve stems (China stems junk) for my 4 trailer tires. (sent there by a Sam's employee because they do it for cheep) My axles are bent so the inside of the tires is bald. I'll put new tires on soon as we straighten the axles. Next week to the body shop.

No questions asked new stems and even flipped tires on rim so the tread wears even. Couldn't beat this deal $8.67 for all. Sam's wanted $20.00 per tire.

If everyone is so worried about sue happy this and that why not have a waiver to sign. Oh wait that wouldn't be the "lets get greedy" way,.,.,.,., we need lawyers and dirty lawsuits. Keep taking away the responsiblity of the person and handing them over to the corporations, lawyers, governement then wake up one day and ask WHAT HAPPENED TO MY FREEDOM ??????????????????????????

Courts have consistantly rule that uninformed people cannot waive their rights to safety. Waivers are useless in cases that involve injury or death, even when the parties involved are all intelligent or educated. Someone says they didn't understand the true risk and the whole thing is out the window.

Weather cracked sidewalls is a strong indicator of degraded structural integrity. It is difficult to tell just how degraded a tire can be from surface appearance, so many shops are now refusing to work with "significantly weathered" tires. It is sometimes a judgment thing, but an inexperienced person will often make the call sooner so as not to miss the call altogether.

"life-time" service agreement-, for which you pay $8-12 per tire, btw. Not opposed to/nor a fan of those profitable little service agreements, but the consumer needs to understand the limitations. Tires have a build date code stamped right on them. After 5 years and certainly at 7 years, some franchise tire shops will refuse to touch them. They may have been so instructed, most likely, by corporate.

The little mom and pop shops generally are not as fussy, but some are.

RV tires get a lot of ozone and sunlight in comparison to the miles put on them. On my boat trailer and popup camper, I just replace them every 5 years. Granted, those little RV tires seem like pretty cheap construction.

1*However, "life" is a legal term. Usually 5 years. Sorry. 2*You didn't say how old the tires were.
1*The tire was warrented for 40000 miles.
2*I don't really know.

3*Reputable tire shops will not do any work on a car with tires that do not meet safety standards. ie; worn or weather checked.
4*They did the right thing.
I've run into the same situation.
5*The shop would not replace the front tires because one rear tire had uneven wear. I was not pleased to buy four tires that day, but I accept it as the right thing to do.
6*The next time you drive by an accident you should go thank Wally world for having a social conscience.
3*In that case tires should not die before the warranty expires.
4*And my tire shop Didn't
5*So according to them it's better to operate the vehicle with 3 bad tires rather than one.
6*I do not need another tire , WM simply wanted to sell me one.

7*My tire situation was / is nothing like this.
8*Maybe i should have taken my D 50 to another Wall Mart about 15 mile from my local one.
9* Nope you couldn't but in my case I had to pay a tire
company and wall mart both for the same thing.
You can always beat that kind of a deal .

That bunch at wally world makes me sick. I have a friend that has been in tires all his life. He worked at the one in Corinth MS till he saw some of the things they did. The big thing was oil filters. When they did t a full service the bag boys there would drain the oil, put the plug in and put new oil in. Leaving the old filter on if it was hard to get off. He said when they were short they got the back up stock boys that couldnt even wrench. They warped rotors with impacts cars left with a lug nut missing or mismatched. One poor lady got out of the parking lot and the oil light came on she shut it off ansd called them My friend went out and the oil plug had been cross threaded so bad that it wouldnt seal.

They had a ton of problems like this. My brother got hired to be a vehicle and evidence warehouse manager for an accident re creation company. THe owner loved using Walmart Service center. He had bought a new Lincoln Town car and had it religiously serviced at walmart since it was new. My brother asked him to let him do the service work since they had racks and such in house. He had a complaint about after the first service his car had lower oil pressure. And had it the last several oil changes. My brother stopped by the parts house and got the good oil and air filter and went to work. He had a surprise the oil filter had clear plastic over the outside. My brother called the boss in to see it come off. He had to get it off by driving a screw driver through it to turn it. When he got it off it still had most of the plastic seal on the front of the filter all the way around.

It had plastic on most of the front and the threaded pickup tube poked the hole in the plastic and a little hole on the other part. After that he kept a full stock of service items and did it all inhouse.

I don't buy tires at WalMart and have never had any problems buying them from the local tire dealer. :)
