Guys, the point in doing the cylinder teardown was to help you do it for yourself. It is good to try to get a seal kit in advance rather than tearing down and then measuring/matching. However, when the seal kit is over $200, I guess we have to teardown and order. BTW, that price on the seal kit was not Rick's fault. Many times on newer equipment, prices on anything is high. When the aftermarket catches up, prices come down. Maybe we could start something here with Kioti seal kits. We could save the old seals, jot down model # of the tractor, cylinder function, and make our own kits. I am going to contact Hercules-Bulldog about making Kioti seal kits. I don't know how they go about it, but maybe they can look into it.

Now, you guys do your own cylinder rebuilds, it's not that difficult which is what I was trying to point out. If you need a hand, or get stuck, I'm a pm or a phone call away! You don't need any special tools other than a good pick set, decent pipe wrench, and maybe a pipe vise.

Andy, thanks for the encouraging advice. I'll consider it right along David Ortiz's advice that it's not too hard to hit the ball out of Fenway.;) What I saw as a skilled and experienced craftsman fix something that I would have spent half a day trying to tear apart and then probably a week or more trying to put back together after which it may or may not work as desired. I figure I'm still going to let you and the UPS guy deal with the cylinders though I am certainly going to take the thing off myself. That way I'll save time, money and knuckles.

Thanks for the support Andy! When I took my steering cylinder apart, I got as far as getting the piston cap (internally threaded) off. Then I looked at it, stared at it, talked to it....and....uh...put it back together. Thanks to your tutorial the mystery of...."what would happen iffen I yank this out? " has been solved. I now can take the cylinder apart with confidence....and maybe...just maybe get it back together correctly. It will look correct on the outside at least! I'm willing to gve it a try, for I have spare seals anyway. Oh...and an new spare steering cylinder!

Soooooooo....what your turnaround on a cylinder...you know....already apart?:D

Seriously, thanks again Andy - you were patient and thorough!

sounds like you guys had fun, sorry I missed out.

I was out delivering to a new Kioti to a customer, and boy let me tell you it was hot out in that sun. Which was later cured by a swim in the pond.

Nice pictures....The one with the 3pt equipment on the front of the loader caught my eye.
