walmart pricing oddity

It is about moving inventory - some of the factors that go into price cutting decisions are shelf space, shelf life, seasonal change,,, on and on.

Here's another one;
Home Despot is selling Thompson's wood seal cheaper per gallon in 1 gallon cans than in 5 gallon pails.
Not only that, the rebate per gallon is also better on the one gallon cans.

The trifecta ? I only needed 3 gallons anyway, so if I had immediately rushed to the 5 gallon pail assuming it would be the best deal... I would have had 2 gallons spare.
Dunno what the shelf life of this stuff is, but I have other (better) uses for MY shelf space (-:

That's one thing I have not been impressed with.. walmart does not seem to have good beef prices.. at least in my area.. etc.

I bought a good looking brisket for $1.29 a pound which is cheaper than the last time I looked at them at Walmart.

Cat food (purina) looked last night and the 5 lb. bag was $9.87. The 25 lb. bag of the same stuff only $11.97 Go figure! they were out of the 25 lb but this was the first time in several years of getting the large bag they were out.
