Walmart's Rotella Tractor Fluid

I'm actually heading west this evening; I'll check the truck stop on the way out. Local TS carries some Rotella products but stops shy of the UTF (Donax TD).

Yes it is. My spec is for Power Fluid 821 (Mahindra 3325). I'm considering Donax TD (see attached) as my alternate if it's easier to find. I'm in a pretty rural part of the country, I'd be surprised if these fluids are elusive for long. I'm just putting an 8N to rest, I'm guilty of not trying nearly as hard to find fluids for her as I am the new ...

I had a rather loud conversation with the guy behind the automotive desk at the local Big Wally's. Seemed as though as a oil product they used to stock but ran out or no longer meets their inventory control parameters, not only can't be ordered, but won't. They have strick a inventory structure and there will be no deviation from that. This particular new store is surrounded by farming irrigation circles. I think my question to the associate was "you can't sell tractor oil to farmers?". Walmart is only focused on the the guy changing his oil in his Honda Accord. Anyhow I'm not surprised at the corporate attitude. I just hate wasting my time at those place's. I'm used to the extra cash layout at the local true oil Distribor down the street. It's just they're not open on the weekends when I'm tryin to do all my work. bjr

Remember when Target used to stock a full line of auto maintenance stuff? Remember when Walmart had a full line of ammo at amazing prices?

Seems like the big box stores aren't interested in what we want to buy, just what they want to sell. All the more reason to buy from the local guy or mail order.

Thanks for the contact info CIVESNEDFIELD. I did end up doing business with the JC Oil Co and they were real pleasent to work with. They have to order the Rotella UTF; they have Donax TD in bulk and can repackage it for 42and some change. I went the Rotella route for 50 (don't know why I went the extra 16...; Rotella is just funner to say than Donax I guess). A Wal-Mart in a very ag community near here (Mexico, MO) has several buckets on the shelf. My local WM said they may never get any more and the newer stores in the area don't even have shelf space for it.

Great to hear that it worked out. After reading your post and helping you out I started to think about my first tractor service and decided to look at the manual and see what it says. Got the list of recomended trans/hyd oils in my pocket. I went to half a dozen places that I know sell the stuff and walked away empty handed. The delima, all the trans/hyd oils have no specifacation info on the labels.
So right now I am looking for a company to do buisness with.


Found one for you halfway across the country, I should be able to come up with one for myself.

I noticed the same thing when I was looking for a good grease locally.. The walmart General Purpose was about the only one that listed the detailed specs.. Everyone else just said it met some general specs and how great it was..

Im assuming they are hoping that you dont want to try and compare specs and just buy it because the packaging says its good.. And I have to be honest before spending time on here I would have not know any better and just gone with what 'looks' good..

The problem with "Good looks" is that if you read your warranty, it states that if quality fluids are not used the warranty will be voided.

That said if the oil does not have specifications and standards listed on the label it will not go in my machine.
