want to add a brake light

The light indicator is an improvement over no warning at all. My tractor has a big red brake light that comes on whenever you step on the brake and also when when the parking brake is applied. So the micro switch is attached to the brake levers instead of just on the parking brake lever like BX2230Dude did.

However, obviously not being not too bright here, I STILL drive off with the parking brake AND light on! So here's what I'm thinking....
If there was a way ... like on some cars ... when you put it into gear the parking brake kicks off automatically? Has that been done on tractors? If so, I'd like to learn how to do THAT. Then I wouldn't have to worry about releasing the parking brake ever?

Air brakes work on this principal. They are spring set/air released. Can't move until air pressure is up over spring pressure and releases brake. Maybe some hydraulic assist to override spring? There you go.

And the first time you loose air out in the field.. your tractor sets there till you fix her, or adjust the brakes of fthe shoes and limp her in. Not awesome choices....

Well, you could replace the parking brake lock with an electromagnet, then switch the relay off when a Hall switch is activated by a strategically placed magnet on a wheel.

Say, what if you made an electromagnet that was energized thru a relay when you start the engine (only on when the starter is cranking). The electromagnet would be setup to dis-engage the parking brake lever. Sure, it would only work to pop the brake on startups, but isn't that when most people need it?

(This might be verging on a good idea, eh?)

cLOSE.. But I'm not sure I would like having my starter automatically kick out my park brake. Now.. if a solenoid could be energized to kick the park brake out when you shifted into gear.. then that would be ok.. etc.

Wouldn't work, you'd always be stopped for donuts and coffee.

Now if it said PARKING BRAKE, that might work...

?????? Am I missing something here?????
When I set my parking brake, the brakes are ON, and they better be, otherwise the tractor will be rolling downhill from 8300'! Any attempt to drive off makes it VERY clear that the brakes are ON, and I'm not going anywhere. If you can drive away with the brake set, are you sure that your brakes are doing anything useful when you set them? May they just need an adjustment????

Some tractor brakes are not that strong that the hydro can't overpower them. Personally, I realize that the brake is engaged when the tractor has a hard time moving and requires more pedal power of the hydro. I don't think that there is a fool proof method that one can use to remembering to release the brake pedal lock.
