I have broken the points on my Box Blade.

Ordering replacement points from Agri Supply has not worked out satisfactorily.

I searched eBay for T1 material without luck

My excellent local welder does not stock T1 steel. If lay hands on suitable material, he will weld for me.

Ideal OEM replacement size would be 5" long X 1-3/8"wide X 1/4" thick.

I would be happy to buy a strip 1-1/2" wide x 1/4" or 3/8" thick X (whatever) length.

10", 20", 30", 60" length(s) ~~~~ I would be happy.

ANYONE OUT THERE LIKE TO SELL A LITTLE T1 STEEL STRIP?

Could you use pieces of old leaf springs? New T1 is probably expensive.

A good idea. I realize leaf springs probably vary, but how thick would an average leaf spring be?

I had the idea that an old mower blade, which would be tempered, might serve as material. I am going to my Kubota dealer to scrounge tomorrow.

Check out McMaster Carr. Should be able to find something pretty close there.

You can get some cutting edge material in 1/2 x 6" and cut your 1-1/2" wide pieces out of it. 2' of this, which at 2" wide per tooth, would do 12 teeth....and cost ~$40 ASTM 155 Steel Beveled Cutting Edge | Buy Online | Cut to Size | No Minimum Order

Mcmaster has AR400, which would be another good choice 12d395j

Discount steel also has T1, sold as sheets, but can have them cut. If I select 3/8 thick, and 1-1/2 wide, and the full 8' length, shows up around $76
ASTM A514 T1 Steel Plate | Buy Online | Cut to Size | No Minimum Order

Can your local welder not get T1? I would think a local steel supply/weld shop can get material cheaper than you or I can by ordering online.

A piece of frame rail from a late model commercial truck could work too. I know Peterbilt uses T1 steel for the frame.

Thank you for the replies.

I am going to use a repurposed mower blade, which the welder will add right on top of the existing stub.

If the mower blade holds up as a point, I am good.

I looked at Discount Steel and that will be a backup.

I will look at McMaster Carr this evening.

Thank you, again.

A cheap pack of leaf springs from a junkyard is always a good option too. Let them know what you are doing and see what they have laying around. I think leaf springs are a bit tougher than mower blades. Maybe not a good thing if you can't get a weld to hold. But worth a shot IMO

I will check out leaf springs too, after consulting with the welder.

There are numerous possibilities at McMaster Carr. Any advice on which type of steel would be good?

Here is one possibility: ABRASION RESISTANT AR400 CARBON STEEL ~ 1607T25: McMaster-Carr
