I was just trying to find the SE seat on JDParts again... but it is just not there. They list the repair parts for it. Each arm-rest is $110.00, again that is EACH. I guess your $800.00 would be right on the money. I hope to find out the actual soon, as I want to get this idea out of my mind, as impracticable. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I priced the fancy seat, with the arm rests, and the really cushy springs...but it was way too much money....almost $800, plus the cost of retro-fitting. So, for me, the x-series seat, off an x 485, or x 585, works just fine. I will take pictures and post this coming weekend. I think several others have made this conversion and have previously posted photos, too. I took one photo with me to the dealer that I had gotten off this web site.....just to prove to this fellow that this conversion was, indeed, possible!!

Yes, please post pictures, and details such as what part numbers are being used.
I too am looking to upgrade either the seat, the suspension or both on my 2210.
I have a seriously bumpy yard in places thes stock seat suspension just ain't cuttin' it.

What does the 4010, 4115 and other tractors have? Humm... I am going to have to stroll on over to the www.JDParts.com and find out. I can't take the bouncy ride on the 2210 any more but I am curious about the up-close detail and if it will look too funky. Plus, I don't want to sit too much higher off the tractor. So detailed pictures would be good, or! Better yet... How about a picture with some seated to see the amount of compress? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I am a very slender and fit person but after buying my 2210, I feel as I need a Manzier or the Bro (That is what Seinfield and George's father invented). I am gonna check out those bigger tractors right now. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The part number for the seat suspension off the X595 is AM134254 and the price listed is $110.00. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I sat in the 4210 and it is nice. The seat drop about 2 inches when I sat in it. I think the seat alone might be adaptable to the 2210 but I doubt the suspension would work-too high.

I was going to go play, on the X595, at my dealer to investigate the suspension.... but it is raining HARD today and is supposed to for days. What a bummer. They finally have them in stock after having none all winter.

Putting pictures of the conversion under the PHOTOS section. There will be several showing the new X-series seat mounted on my 2210. Hopes this works. I don't know how to attach photos to this email, so will try to do this in the photos section of the web site.

i loaded the photos under other attachments, custom-built. i have more photos if somebody wants a different view. just let me know. seat and suspension fit fine. note the little bar running across the front, just under the front lip of the seat. it has a pin that releases it. if you pull this pin and slide out the bar, you can lower the front tilt of the seat itself.....which works great for short-legged women like me!
so, go to photos to have a look.
proud moma of my beautiful 2210!

Buckie, Did you have to buy the X-series seat AND suspension or just the seat? And how much was it, if I may ask? I also saw in this thread you will sit closer to the steering wheel is that true? I dont want to get any closer…

hi, i chose to buy not only the seat, but also the suspension. I think you can, at your preference, buy just the seat...but that sure makes (in my opinion) a stiff ride. Altogether, the seat and suspension cost me about $200.00. The labor involved was several hours, but, if you are handy, you can do this yourself.
No, I don't have to sit any closer to the wheel. The to/fro/back/forward adjustment works fine. however, I do sit higherup, off the ground, to allow for the suspension. this presents no problem. I am female, 5'5" tall, with fairly short legs.....and I can adjust the seat to work fine. I can also slide it way back....far from the wheel....were I to need this.

I did adjust the "tilT" of the seat itself, by changing the placement of the bar that runs underneath the seat, at its front base. It shows in the pictures, secured by a pin. You lcan lower or raise the front end of the seat by adjusting this bar.

So, for me, it was well worth the $$$. Far more comfortable ride and back support.

Actually I would like to see another picture and that would be from the side showing the distance from the steering wheel to seat. Have you noticed any problem of egress while getting on and off? Also since you are sitting higher does the loader joystick operation feel much different? Sorry to belabor this subject but spending $200.00 is alot of loot right now. Thanks for taking the plunge and giving us this info. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

DJLX,

Tongue in cheek, in your case $200 is not a lot of loot now! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Having been motivated by this thread, I ordered the suspension & seat this past weekend and will have the parts in 1-2 weeks. I will try to take before/after pictures and also measure the old/new seat heights.

I sat on a 485 at the dealer and the unloaded spring suspension easily adds 3-4 inches to the height. However, with me on it (200 lbs) it settles by at least half that amount. I don't think the difference would be real noticeable for an adult-sized operator.......

Great thanks,
Geez I guess I've been here too long. I completely missed the photo tab.

Can't wait to see more photos of other future conversions.

To all that have done this conversion, a couple of more questions.
Did you opt for the X series seat as well as the suspension? Is the X seat that much better?

Would the 2210 seat bolt directly to the new suspension or are there mods to be made to do this?

Would the suspension alone be sufficient enough?
or
Would the X seat alone be suffiecent enough?

In other words, which one offers the greatest improvement?

How would you rate this conversion: 1 to 10, 10 being the best thing you could ever do to your 2210, to 1 being it was ok, but not worth the money.

hi, i have not noticed any issue with getting on/off with the different seat set up. if it were to be a problem, I would just use the bar and slide the seat all the way to the back. the joy stick feels no different to me at all. I am not an experienced user, though, so I don't have a longstanding habit of it being at one height or the other. The seat height takes a few minutes to get used to.....after that, it is no big deal to me. I will take a few more pictures and show you the distance to the wheel.

Hi, well I wanted not only the springiness of the suspension, but also the higher back of the seat. In my case, I felt it was worth it to purchase both. If I had it to do over again, I would make the same decision. For me, with a touch of arithritis in my hips, having a good seat for long hours on the tractor was essential. Now, if i could only figure out how to heat the darn thing, I'd have it made!!!!!
You do have to make some modifications in order to make it work, but I know others have posted on how to get this done.....and it seems relatively simple. I am definitely NOT skilled enough to have done this without assistance from a mechanic.......which I got.
The modifications I am making to the 2210 include: seat conversation, rear lighting installed on the ROPS, a base hookup for a satelite radio, bracket for a small tool box, hooks and eyebolts on the ballast box, forks for the FEL, and a carryall for the IMatch. (and a cup holder for my big jug of Carolina sweeeetea!)
