Want to upgrade/change the 2210 seat....

Buckie can you tell me how you made the change over to your new seat and spring suspension? I just got mine today and the bracket for the new seat is wider. Did you drill new holes and how about the seat belt bracket?

I just did this on my 2210. I used the "bottom half" of the 2210 suspension frame that bolts to the tractor, and the "sliders" and adjusting lever that came with the new seat suspension. I had to drill holes closer together in the new suspension and move the rails in so that they line up with the existing 2210 bottom half holes. Other than drilling 4 holes it was pretty straightforward.
So at the end the parts I had leftover were:
- the old 2210 seat
- the old 2210 seat sliders and adjusting lever
- the bottom half of the X series suspension
Hope this makes sense. I love the new seat, makes a huge difference on rough ground!

Do you think you would be just as happy had you used the 2210 seat? Would the 2210 seat bolt directly to the X suspension, or would that be another mod?
What did you have to do with the safety switch?

hi cadblaster. I am not mechanical at all, so bear with me. I used both the seat and suspension, with the result that the seat does, in fact, sit a bit higher. but, what you gain in comfort from having the suspension is significant, at least from my point of view. you do have to modify the 2210 rails, but it is worth it. somebody who knows their stuff, mechanically, can tell you exactly how to do this. from an end user, no pun intended, point of view, this is a really good upgrade for the 2210. My total cost was about $200.

The X suspension alone WOULD be a big improvement. Yes, either seat will work with either suspension. However, the rod used to mount the seat is LONGER on the 2210 seat than the X seat, but it's a simple change.
If you use the X seat, you have to buy an X series safety switch. They are totally different.
I have posted 10 pictures in the gallery. They are the only pictures under fgross335_2210. They show the old seat height, new seat height and compare hardware and show the holes I had to drill to narrow the X frame rails.
It did take a little time to get used to the higher seating position, but 15 minutes and it felt perfectly normal.

I am glad that everyone who has added the x series suspension to the 2210 is very happy with them.
I don't want you to think I am skeptical but... so I need some input.
I sat on a brand new X595 this week at my dealer and the suspension did not move much at all.
Is it because I am 170 pounds or maybe the springs get softer after the 1st few hours.
I do want a softer ride but when I sat on that X595 it barely went down.
Great pictures fgross335_2210. It sure shows the difference between the two. It takes out all the mystery. I am not worried about the conversion, just the $$$. MY wife says, first the Rear Blade, now we are looking at the I-Match Quick Hitch and Pallet Forks. She says if the seat suspension is on that list too, it better be well worth the dough. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Fred That was just what I needed. I will be puting mine on as soon as the rubber bumpers come in. my dealer thought the 2210's would fit. nope.
