Want to use logs to frame a carport type structure

I have a number of oak logs for the project. Dimensional lumber would be easier to work with but prices are high right now and the logs are cheap.

It would be easier if I do not need to notch logs to get a good fit. Can I use those long log screws to screw the logs together? In some places, I am thinking about using rebar to pin logs into place.

Any thoughts or better ideas?

I would bolt them together which would require notching for a flat surface where they attach. But I tend to over build.

Any log structure benifit's from notching. Otherwise logs can roll despite being pinned in place. Sharp chainsaw make's quick work of notches and/or flats on ends. Have you considered bartering a few logs for milling?

We haven't been able to build with any ungraded (stamped) lumber for a long time now.

I built a lambing shed years ago out of round wood, and it was okay. It worked and was cheap, but it is a trying project because there is no straight/plumb/level spot to really measure too anywhere on the structure. It was rugged though. About 10 years after I built it, I wanted to move it, so I just hooked onto it with the tractor and hauled it about a 1/4 of a mile to its new location.
