I am looking for a good used backhoe to fit my TC25D. I have a machine shop and welding equipment so I'll make it fit. I'm looking for a backhoe in the 8 1/2 foot dig depth range. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have a machine shop, look at www.cadplans.com. You can build a 3pt backhoe or a free standing backhoe from their plans. You can even get a kit from them, that has everything pre cut, and drilled for a very modest price.

That sounds large for a 25hp tractor. I'm also looking for a unit for my 1720, but looks like 6.5 or maybe 7.5 is the limit. At least look into a frame mount at that size.

Based on the New Holland literature, the 758C is the largest my tractor can support. It has a sub-frame mount. The 758 has a 8 1/2 foot dig depth. Man, these used b.hoes are hard to come by.

My dealer talked me into a New Holland 757C with the sub frame for warranty reasons. I was looking at the 3 pt's. Also keep in mind that there's a few parts to buy if you use the system hydraulics instead of a PTO pump.

The reason there's not alot of used one's out there is because there's not enough knuckle heads like me who want to pay that much for something, then figure out where to use it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Go with the Rhino brand - they make the NH backhoe and are much cheaper. I got one for my 33D and really like it.

I looked for Rhino myself and couldn't find it. I did come across this stuff though. Pretty interesting, you can save a lot, and if you import it yourself, you can save even more.

I have used full size backhoes in the past and I fully understand that the little compact hoe attachments don't come close to the power of a full size unit, but I was wondering if some of you can give me an idea of what these little guys are capable of. I am thinking of the New Holland 758C hoe which has a 8 1/2 foot digging depth. Most of my yard is heavy clay and I'm sure I will come across some rocks (large rocks) and a few tree roots here and there.
