It sounds to me that you had better use a "weed eater" over your septic area. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

My ground is hard, and I'm not concerned about it at all, even in the spring. I mowed with a MF 65 before I bought my Kioti.

Built the house in 97 and have not had any septic system problems caused be using the 2 tractors.

I don't want to get into an arguement over the subject, but let's just agree that it can be ok to drive your tractor over your septic field depending on what size of tractor you have, what kind of soil conditions you have, and how deep you lines are under the surface.

Everyone's results will vary, but it hasn't been a problem in my case.

Anyway, good luck to Phil on the tractor shopping and buying. Even though I don't have a Kioti, I recomended that he check out Roman's, because there are a couple of members that have a lot of positive things to say about them. I'm sure he'll enjoy his purchase, no matter which tractor he decides to buy. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Andy thanks for the well wishing. I am enjoying the shopping process, although to be completely honest I am surprised at what these machines cost.

I had no idea that I would be looking at $20k for a loaded compact tractor. It's been a reality check.

My local dealer (Owen's Implement) called me today and told me the machine I looked at had a Woods BH on it and not a Kioti (which for some reason I thought it was). Does that change the pricing any? He told me I could take $4200 off the price of the package if I want to buy the tractor with out the BH. I don't recall the model of the Woods BH though, I was on my cell in the middle of construction when he called so I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to the details /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Anyone have an idea about whether it's a good thing or not(Woods vs. Kioti)? Does it affect the warranty any?

I don't believe any brand tractor company warrants the use of "unapproved" other brands of implements. That said, the Woods backhoes are very good from what I've seen. I like their designs, and they generally are higher mounts than with Kioti.
I don't know which one you're talking about, but my dealer had a groundbreaker 6000 on a CK20 that was sweet. the curved boom and high submount (which stays on the tractor) was easy to put on and off and the extra clearance made sense.
I personally have no use for mid mount mowers. Just too much work, but then, I don't use a RFM either for my lawn. I have used my brush cutter a couple of times with fair results, but I usually use my Zero Turn mower for mowing.
Without a good hard spot for mount/dismount, I sure wouldn't want a MMM.
As for prices of tractors, my car cost over $25,000, my tractor with loader and backhoe and boxblade with tax was about $18K and my car doesn't do much but get me around!

I would think that PSI would matter much more than actual weight. I would think (no expert here) that a #4000 tractor with wide indutrial tires would cause less POTENTIAL damge than a light tractor with AG's applying more pressure to the ground. Again, just my opinion and definately not fact!

Then a bulldozer only puts down 3-5 psi but I wouldn't want it on my lawn.

Agreed, I wouldn't want it on my lawn either! That being said, I still think PSI is more important, especially giving the job of mowing a lawn where you dont have to worry about the weight just sitting on that spot, unless of course the tractor breaks down /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I would like to have a bulldozer though, just not running across my lawn.
