RedRocker,
You are indeed right. I was confusing the 20 HST w/ the 25. You can get them for the 20 but not the 25 or 30. I guess that takes care of that little probelm then deosn't it? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks.

Mavrik,
I read the post you linked to. Pretty funny. Reminds me of another forum I am member of, Woodnet, and he arguments over "The Best Tablesaw". It gets ugly.

I will do some more investigating on the two. I never thought of KAB's point that you have "set" speeds. If you have to run an implement at a set rpm then it will kind of set your travel speed for you. Do the gear versions have two ranges only as opposed to the 3 ranges on the HST's? The way I read the spec sheet the 25 & 30 gear models have 8F/8R travel speeds, I'm assuming that is 4 gears and two ranges with a reverser.

Thanks again guys. This is exactly what I need, to be able to "talk" it out before I make a final decision.

The mid mount mower is now available for the CK 25 and 30
If you are interested in possibily get a backhoe now or later you will have to get a Woods 4 point backhoe, it is compatable with the mid mount mower. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Me neither! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Now I have to rethink it. Or not. Now if they had the drive over capability of the Green Giant I think it would make it a no brainer.

RMM I think will do fine for now.

I am not a big fan on belly mowers with loaders people tend to get (lazy) after they remove it the first time. (It is a big piece of steel you have to move) Then they second guess it the second time saying in their head "I am just going to do a little work with the loader I will becareful."
AND next thing you know the is a rock stuck up under the mowing deck and sure enough you bent your blade. Problem? Nope.
10 hours of mowing later you loose the bearing because you blade was so out of balance and you thought it would not hurt anything, well how do you like your mower now?
Some people love their set up and that is fine but I tell my customers that you better have asphalt or concrete to be able to take the mower of it will make it much eaiser.
Also a rear finishing will cost you at least $500.00 less
I know that there are people out here that have a mmm and a loader and don't have any problems, I know because I have sold them that way and will sell them that way if that is what a customer wants.
All I am doing is giving everybody my opinion. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

What exactly am I trying to avoid? The leech field? Is there a danger of crushing the lines?

To me some people act like you are walking on eggshells as far as a mowing around septic areas, and drain fields. Unless your leech lines are only 2" below the surface you will be fine. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think you will be fine!

I mow all the time with my DK65 over the leech bed and up next to the concrete lids sticking out of the ground.

When it comes to septic... I have been doing research getting ready to build. I have read a quit a bit about the cause if septic failure since I only want to ever install 1 system. In Geauga County, OH, you have to have you primary system that is basically 2 systems in 1. You install 2 systems in the same area side by side, there is a distribution box that you control which half of the system gets the liquid waste that is to be swapped at least 2 times a year. Of course there has to be a backup area planned if the original area fails.

From website
( 5. Physical Damage
Trucks or heavy equipment passing over the system can damage pipes and joints to the point of rendering the system inoperable. You should be aware of the location of the system and direct traffic to avoid such damage )

Even though this site specifies trucks or heavy equipment I have seen other sites that include tractors. Either way I would much rather even push mow a septic system than risk causing problems that I could have avoided.

This is MY choice. and will be MY money if it has to be replaced. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Your choice, Your Money. Just the assumed facts based on the information that I have read concerning septic (outside of TBN).

Not to get off the subject, but I don't see it as an issue to drive a 1500 pound tractor over my septic field to cut my grass. Now if I regularly drove a six axle dump truck over it fully loaded several times a day, I would probably be harming my septic field. There are several threads on this site where this has been discussed, and the general consensus is it is ok to drive over it with a lightweight tractor and mower.

Andy,

A 1500# tractor is a big difference from a 3000#+ tractor. Add loader, operator and what ever might be on it, then it can be closer to 4,000#. The website that I referenced just happened to be the first one that I looked. With this website I would not have a concern either. I had, in the past, found a couple of websites that talk about weight in the 2000# area. I was the same as you, an occasional vehicle, 2000# tractor so what. It was not what I read here on TBN, but what I have read on septic systems. Some of sites dealing with septic system recommend only push mowing the area. Will I, No. Will I use my CK20? Unlikely, but time will tell.

Last year I used the CK20 to mow my front yard at my house, which I normally ran the long direction, then when I switch direction and I was surprised the number of bumps that were caused by tire compaction. Just an observation for this yard.
