Mrs.tiller seen a tornado out the kitchen window a few years ago. It was in the next field over, about a thousand yards away, on a nice warm late fall day.
I seen it on my way home and stopped to watch it as it went about 1.5 miles north and east of our house.
After doing a lot of damage, it left the neighboring little town and traveled about 10 miles without doing any more damage until it hit a house not far from where I was watching it.

The next day the weather turned cold and snowed making cleanup miserable for everyone in it's path.

One of those things you just can't help but watch!!! Glad it missed your home.

Don't count out Eastern Oklahoma and East Texas; beautiful country, and some great people...but a bit provincial at times. A bit more moderate climate that Iowa and Missouri, but still gives you four seasons and quite warm in August. Lots of hunting and fishing. A bit far to the beach, but lots of nice lakes.

What with the weather around the Great Lakes it's a good idea to have adequate lightening arresters if one lives in MI. Mine is organic, all-natural, and gluted-free. I've also burned a chord or two of it at campfires.

If you are like me, I am accustomed to roaming the forests around here. Public land is virtually nonexistent in Texas, where I lived for a year. That is an important factor to me in choosing a place to live.
