i have a b7800 with a 5' brush hog. i have been using it to mow acreages for a little extra money. yesterday when i was mowing, i noticed that 3 point was not moving up and down completely. it would start to come up like normal, and then stop. if i released the lever and tried again it would come up the rest of the way (does this going down also). i have tried adjusting the top link, but nothing else...it still does the same thing. any ideas on what i should try next? lifter arms?

I would check the hydro fluid. Also make sure that the arms are not obstructed by piece of a tree.
Just some thoughts.

the hydro fluid is on the level...and there are no obstructions. thank you for the reply though. here's one more thing that might help...when it does stop...i feel a resistance on the control lever, almost like a something is pushing back. all suggestions welcome...i need to do a job tomorrow. thanks again sandyc.

Do you have a draft control lever involved?

i am pretty sure, i have no idea what a draft control lever is, or if i have one. my tractor is a '04 model. dang...sorry, that's pretty lame i know.

Seems odd that it would react the same going up or down. HOW many hours on this b7800

it is much more noticeable coming up, very slight on the way down.
it has 62 hours on it. where should the top link be set in the bracket when sitting on the ground? towards the front, free in the middle, or towards the back? thanks again all...very helpful, i'm learning everyday.

Check for sticks in the lever and linkage.

Also check the stops on the lever linkage in case they have slipped from their correct positions.

Would this have anything to do with the 1/4 inching valve?

Try disconnecting the mower and putting something else on there, like a back blade, and see if it still does it. My guess is that there is a temporary binding of the tractor toplink where it connects to the mower, as I assume your mower has a "U" shaped bracket that the toplink attatches to. Mine bound up like that only when the U bracket was at certain positions until I replaced the toplink with a chain (only for the mower, not other 3 point implements).
