Warranty Work

I received my 3520 wednesday night. The dealer was really a piece of work. It arrived without an ignition key, no manual for the Tractor or the FEL. I had to wait for an hour for them to return to dealership to get a key. They still did not bring an owners manual. They mailed it to me the following day. After inspecting the tractor and implements I found it did not have a drawbar installed. I called the dealer the next day and they finally found the dreawbar. I asked if I could get an extra key and they acted as if I wanted a 1000 dollar discount. All this leads to my question. Since I am sure that I will never return to this dealer for any work whatsoever I am wondering if it will be a problem to have warranty work done at another dealer. I dont know if John Deere has any policy on this. I am fortunate to have several dealers within an hours drive. I know I should have changed dealers before I purchased but hindsight is 20-20.

My dealer (big, JD-only, in Quebec) specifically told me that no matter where I moved, no matter which dealer I went to, the JD warranty would be honored with no problem.

Don't know how that works in the US, but I assume it would be the same deal...

The only problem and it may or may not be a problem is that when you go to another dealer, they may work on the customers’ tractors that were bought there first. A lot of dealers do it that way, but there are also some that don't.

Welcome to the forum.

The dealer may have slipped up a bit, but I wouldn't jump to another just based on what your experience has been.
If I didn't have bigger issues than a key and a manual and a drawbar, then the problem may not be solved by going to another dealer. The dealer may just have a couple employee issues that you helped bring to light. He should be equally upset having to run a second trip for a key, and mail a manual, and find a drawbar.
Be sure to talk to the owner and not the help.

I'd press for the second key just because it'll probably cost you to get another one in the future. As for the manuals, I looked at mine until I found that they are available from the JD website... haven't looked at the actual 'book' since.

JDs come with two keys. It's silly for the dealer to make a big deal of it. They should have a drawer full of them.

Warrenty work will be done by any dealer. As with any business they may give little bit of better service to their biggest customers, but they may sell you a lot of other stuff over the years and besides, they can't turn you down. JD will not allow it.

Should you switch? Well, you bought from that dealer for some set of reasons. If those reasons aren't there anymore, maybe you should check out the other dealers in the area. Missing drawbar and manual doesn't sound like a big deal, but I find the argument about the key to be pretty odd.

I thought I would get a better price and I thought the salesman was more knowledgeable than others that I had talked to. I found out that as soon as he had my money all honesty went out the window. He never said a word after that that wasnt a lie.I dont want to deal with people like that and this time I got caught in a bad situation. Wont happen again. A dealer that is just as close to me and one I have dealt with in the past is probably who I will return to. I would have bought from him but there salesman could only say you'll pay more to buy local wont you. I went in twice to make a down payment but the price had increased each time. Needless to say I walked away. There service people and parts people are very good and I think I'll stick with them. Just thankful I dont have to deal with another dishonest salesman.

Just asking - did you look for the manual and keys up front of the radiator? That is where they ship with the tractors.

Sounds like you're the seller instead of the buyer. I'de tell them to get THEIR iron off my property when I talked to the dealership owner. And explain the treatment you recieved after the sale from the salesman. I only recieved one key, but when I asked for another the salesman gave me 5 and laughingly told me to hang on to one.
