Tractor
mahindra 4500 2wd
ive been reading alot of posts about warrenty work not just mahindra. it seems like there is no set standard, some will come out to your place some wont, some act like you just slept with their sister , some are happy to give good service. i know my dealer sells alot of tractors for mahindra and has no competetion so i would guess mahindra would be scared to mess with him too much.

fish whisperer, Mahindra and most other tractor companies do not pay for getting the tractor to the shop, that is only a courtesy supplied by the dealer. Believe me it is an expensive one, considering the small profit margin in tractor sales due to stiff competition. I work hard at trying to accomidate my customers to make it easy for them and on the other hand I have some customers that will bring thier tractors in to make it easy for me. I hope I have given you a better appreciation of the situation.

maybe if they would atleast come out in the first 50 hrs for people that dont have the ability to haul themselfs. my dealer was very clear up front, no free hauling for warrenty work, i was ok with that but i envy the people that have dealers that will.

Traveling to do warrenty work seems to be reagonal. Here in Houston, I have heard of no one (including the big 3) that will pickup, deliever or come out to farm for free. My step dad has a good size JD (6200 I believe) with a cab. With that and other tractors, he has spent over $100k with one salesmen. As you have heard said 'a cb without ac is a greenhouse'. A greenhouse is not were you want to be in Houston and in Augest. They would not help him. He had to come up with his own way to get that 10k lb beast into the shop. Then you here of people in other reagon that have the X475 delievered/serviced for free.

PS my Mahindra dealer said upfront, no pickup, deliever or on site warrenty work.

My current experience, 4 brands from 3 dealerships.
All 3 will pick up and deliver FOR A FEE after the warrenty ended.
2 of the 3 picked up and delivered FREE for warrenty issues.
All 3 delivered for free at time of sale.
All 3 offered on-site testing at no obligation to purchase, I only took up one of them on that.

Cub Cadet & Kubota from a Cub/Kubota/Case dealership.
New Holland from a NH/Branson dealership.
Ventrac from a Ventrac dealer.

Dealer and I had arangement at time of sale I would pay him a service call fee to come out and do service on my farm as my tractor needed it or do any warranty work he could do here. I did not expect him to come for free. All went well until second service which was when the starter went out the first time. I called, said hey my starter is out and tractor needs serviced anyway could you come out and check starter and do service? Reply was yes. 1week nobody showed 2weeks still noone 3 weeks I called and they said they would be out shortly. 1 month I finally got service and tested starter. It was bad and they said it would be covered under warranty. Little did I know they would be another month and a half before they would come back to change it. Meanwhile I started my tractor by rolling it off or crossing it over at starter. Later the pto quit and i called to try to get an idea what could be wrong. No mechanics were in and they said one would call me. 3 days later I called them back and was told they had no idea what would cause it and they would call Dan with Mahindra and see if he knew what would cause it again they would call me back. Another week and no call so I started trying to figure it out myself. An adjustment to the actuating rod fixed it. I never did hear from the dealer.
This time I called when my starter quit working again and my hydraulics went haywire. They said they could not and would not come to my farm to service or check for problems. Exactly the opposite of what was discussed at time of sale. They did say for a LARGER fee they would come pick the tractor up and do all that was needed in there shop. I was told they would be here later in the week. After 3 weeks and the person I needed to talk to never returning my calls I had my dad take the thing in. This time I told them do what's covered under warranty and I will service from here on out. They said ok you'll need these filters. I said no thanks I'll buy them elsewhere! To make a long story short I also will buy my next tractor elsewhere!

Interesting cross- section view of Mahindra dealers and their willingness to appease their customers. I would not expect my dealer to drive/haul from my premise for free after warranty. At the time I purchased my 4500, I believe there was only one dealer in the state of Wisc with the Mahindra franchise. Just by chance, I found a dealer in Mt Morris, IL that impressed me and I bought my tractor from him - 210 miles away. He was ecstatic to sell and deliver my tractor and at the time of sale - we discussed the probability of repairs during warranty and we settled that since I wasn't mechanically ignorant, he'd supply me with parts and repair manuals and future updates to both. It has worked out splendidly for both of us and any parts so far have been delivered at my door within 3 days of breakdown via UPS. Nothing has been anything major or involved, with more than 15 minutes with a wrench in my hand. Mahindra sells many different models and maybe I'm really lucky or my choice of the 4500 was a good choice. No complaints what so ever with my machine or my dealer. If I ever upgraded to a more powerful Mahindra - I'll go back to the same dealer despite the miles between us.

FYI my Mahindra is less than 2 years old and has less than 400 hours on it. Still awfully new and still under warranty! Should not be having problems with the dealer or the tractor!

"Mahindra and most other tractor companies do not pay for getting the tractor to the shop, that is only a courtesy supplied by the dealer."

Dealers get reimbursed for parts, freight and labor. A good dealer should work on any Mahindra tractor regardless of whether or not they bought it from you.

There ain't no free lunch. If the dealer picks up and sends back your tractor, someone has to pay. Dealer must make a fair profit and customer shouldn't get screwed. Sometime us customers have to shop around to keep everyone honest.
