Was Kioti ever made by Kubota?

He could have bought it in Azle too, Bill. When I was looking at Kiotis a few years ago, the Azle dealer gave me the whole "made from Kubota tooling/blueprints/parts" line. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I am a new Kioti dealer and I cannot tell you how many people feel the need to inform me that my tractors are the same as Kubota! I just smile and tell them that they too are orange, and that if every tractor company owned a color like JD seems to, there wouldn't be enough colors to go around!

I saw that same tractor on ebay this morning, thought about sending him an email too...wonder how may freindly corrections he has received?

I emailed him yesterday, and have not yet received any response. I tried to explain that Kioti and Kubota are two separate companies and what he has written makes as much sense as if I was selling a Chevy Pickup and saying it was manufactured by Ford.

I, too sent him an e-mail telling him that Kubota has filed lawsuits against persons making misrepresentations about their tractors and that he should rectify his auction to reflect that the tractor is made by Daedong in S. Korea, not Kubota in Japan. No response. John

I have to say from first glance some of the tractors look identical to Kubotas. I did not know about Kioti until I saw TBN then I looked into them a tad bit and thought they were some sort of knock off from Kubota since one model I saw was like my neighbors Kubota. I now know they are different companies. So this may seem like a stupid question but the Kioti compacts use all Kioti motors then? I would like to see one in person.

One more question: So Kioti builds Cub Cadet tractors the larger ones like the 8000 series? I have seen those at our MN State Fair and they look well built. If I were not brand blind I would have looked at them better.

Yes,
Kioti is built by Daedong (South Korea) and uses a Daedong diesel engine.

Yellowsocks, Daedong uses it's own engine in all the Kioti tractors except the DK65 which has a Perkins diesel. Why I don't know, but that's the only one that doesn't use the Daedong diesel. Yes, the DK35,40 and 45 are the Cub Cadet models. They are the same and use the Daedong engine. Some Mahindra tractors also use the Daedong engine. I don't know what price difference there is in the Cub Cadet Kioties, but someone PM'd me that they had purchased one, but didn't tell the price. They were very happy to be getting it. John

Story I heard as to why Daedong went with Perkins for the larger tractor series up to the DK90 is that it was easier to buy a compliant engine then build one of their own from scratch.

Kioti Is Daedong, Kubota is Kubota.....

Kubota outsources their diesle engines to many other equipment brands...probably more than any other OEM. However, clearly in the picture stands a 100% Kioti. Maybe the dealer that sold this individual his tractor sells both Kioti AND Kubota, and they put their dealer tag on that says "Bill Smith Kubota" or something like that.
