You know it is interesting how this thread worked out, the guy goes into the JD dealership and can't get the time of day, and winds up with a Kioti. 20+ thousand bucks down the drain for that JD and that dealer because no one would pay him any attention. I remembered in 2010 when I bought the tractor before my present Kioti, that is exactly how I wound up with a Kubota. I went to the JD dealership first, it was a large nice lot with probably over 100 tractors, and in better than 30 minutes never could attract anyone's attention. So the wife and I left and went to the Kubota dealership, and a guy came right out and offered to sell me a tractor. It is amazing how that works:)

Congratulations... Welcome to the pack. What are you doing for rear ballast so you can use the loader to it's full potential?
Thanks. I was planning on picking up a box blade on craigslist. Will that not be enough?

Not even close. Their specs call for over 1k on the 3pt to both maximize the loader capability, and take weight off the front axle. Some folks will tell you to have the rear tires loaded with fluid. Loading the rear tires will help keep the tires on the ground with heavy loads, but won't prevent you from abusing the front axle.

Walked into the JD looking the buy a 5045D and couldn't get anyone's attention. Not a "Hi how you doing?" or anything. Said fine they must not need my money so headed across the highway to the NH dealer. Same thing there!

Don't these guys work on commissions?

i know its not universal...but I had the same thing happen with the Coeur d'Alene JD dealership when i was ready to purchase a new cab tractor. I had to nearly pull teeth to get them to quote me a price. Then it was the exact online quote from jd website. Would not deal with cash or trade ins. He kept asking me how much per month i was willing to spend. I kept telling him CASH..it didnt register

Waste of my time. I lefty and went elsewhere.

definitely wont regret it. The Kioti dealer i used has been a great guy to work with. He even came to my place (about a 60 mile trip) to take care of a minor issue with the tractor. NO CHARGE

Geez I'm such a novice at this stuff.

We all start somewhere!

I'm actually in the middle of writing a pretty thorough (I hope!) guide for new tractor shoppers....hoping to have the first cut done very soon.
