That brings up the question, where do you do this washing? And where does the mess end up? Need to be near the hose, and need to be on the tractor to operate the mower deck (safely anyway). I rarely have a build-up. In the fall, when picking up leaves, the deck gets pretty clean as the pic that was shown with the gator blades.

Good Question. I have a bush that buts up to my property and when I did my inground sprinkler system, I ran an extra line to the end of my property and mounted a faucet on a 4" pressure treated posted. I welded a ramp together that I used to drive my 445 up and get under to spray it off with a hose. I would get a lot of grass clumped up under there. Whatever grass would fall would just decay and act as fertilizer for the trees.

Now I will simply plug the hose in, turn it on, and get on the tractor to run the blades for a couple of minutes.

I guess I'm lucky to have a decent set up to do this at.

Along those lines, I considered putting in an underground sprinkler head that would shoot upward. Just drive over it and turn the water on (overhead faucet) while running the blades. Similar to the under-chassis flush at the car wash.

Deck debris has not been much of a problem so I've never carried through with the 'idea'.

I've got a similar fitting that came on my Toro 48" deck. It came with a quick disconnect. I also added an on/off valve at the male end of the hose. I turn the hose on with valve off, connect to deck, turn water on at deck and run it, turn water off at deck and run it for 5 minutes to blow dry it. With the valve at the deck I don't have to run back and forth to the hose bib to shut it off. I just go to the hose bib and close the valve when I'm done.

The quick disconnect makes it easier to hook up. I pop the quick disconnect off and can easily screw it onto the end of the hose then pop it back on. Not so much kneeling or bending.

I also try to grease it about each time I wash it.
