washing diesel out of clothes

I used to use Lestoil to get big dirty oil spills out of my shirts or pants with great success. That stuff was pretty good for that. Basically, I would pour it straight on the oily areas and scrub it with a brush. It might be worth a try for you even if it means soaking the entire coveralls with a mix of water and Lestoil. When I get time, I'll try it out and report back with my conclusion. I've got tons of clothes that smell like diesel. :)

I have a pair of Carhart coveralls that I used when I still had my tractor- it has a strong diesel smell. Well, now that I no longer have the tractor I would like to eliminate the smell- any hints? My wife says burn them- I would like to think I can at least minimize the smell.
Thanks!

Just let them smell. The diesel will remind you of better days when you had your tractor :)

I have good luck getting strong smells out in the wash by adding a cup or so of white vinegar to the rinse cycle. Might take two or three times to get the strong diesel odor out tho.

Where's Martha Stuart when you need her? She always has some sort of Holiday washing tip.

Most good industrial cleaners will remove the smell. I have found citrus based degreaser/cleaners do a fantastic job of removing odor's.
